1. Identify how characterization is established in a story
2. Describe the different types of character
3. Discuss the functions of setting in a fiction

HOME-BASED ACTIVITIES
Get a copy of the story Our Lady’s Juggler by Anatole France. Read the story and answer the following questions:
1. There is only one main character in the story-Barnabas. What are the two basic qualities in his character?
2. What incidents in the story bring out these qualities?
3. Compare Barnabas with the other monks in the monastery.
4. What general observation about life and people did the author play up in the story? How did the setting contribute to other events?
5. Explain: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
I. Evaluating learning
Make at least five statements involving at least a man, a woman and a small apartment. Then try designing a plot based on these statements
