INTERTEXTUALITY (HUMSS12B) Identify the various elements, techniques and literary devices in drama
Objectives:
 Understand intertextuality as a technique of drama
 Identify and differentiate the types of intertextuality

CLASSROOM-BASED ACTIVITIES
A. Reviewing the previous lesson or presenting the new lesson
In this part, the content of the lesson will be presented.
Learning objectives will also be introduced to guide the learners on the learning targets

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson


Students will listen to songs that created parodies of some famous songs and will be asked what is the impact of those created songs.

C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson


What makes the song even more interesting than the original? What are the compelling or powerful elements included in it?

D-E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1 and #2


Discuss intertextuality as a technique in literature, especially for drama.
Three Types of Intertextuality (Appropriation, Allusion, Parody)

Show some images, lines, and excerpts and students will identify the type of intertextuality used.

G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living


Explain: No text is an isolated island.

H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson


Does every media text contain an example of intertextuality? Explain your answer.
Do you think it is more persuasive and entertaining to use intertextuality in drama or any form of literature? Why?

Award-winning play in Palanca Memorial Award  Identify the elements of drama in the given sample script
 Explore different staging modalities vis-à-vis envisioning the script

CLASSROOM-BASED ACTIVITIES:
A. Reviewing the previous lesson or presenting the new lesson
In this part, the content of the lesson will be presented.
Learning objectives will also be introduced to guide the learners on the learning targets

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson


Building Vocabulary Activity (Words are taken from the drama “With Patches of Many Hues.”

C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson


The teacher will let the students read the drama script of “With Patches of Many Hues” by Estrella D. Alfon
Students will answer the given questions for comprehension check.

D-E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1 and #2


Discussion of the elements of drama presented in the script with a focus on characters, setting, and plot.

As a group, students will conceptualize to dramatize the chosen scene to be presented as a performance task next meeting.
