I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, learners are expected to:

Examine images which present particular viewpoints, e.g.


stereotypes (gender, age, cultural), opinions on an issue
A. Content Standards The learner listens critically to different text types; expresses
ideas logically in oral and written forms; and demonstrates
interest in reading to meet various needs. The learner listens
critically to news reports and other radio broadcasts and
expresses ideas accurately in oral and in written forms.
B. Performance Standards Demonstrates confidence in the use of the language to meet
every day‘s needs; and reads independently and gets relevant
information from various text types.
C. Learning Competencies or Objectives Determine images/ideas that are explicitly used to influence
viewers (stereotypes, point of view)
D. Most Essential Learning Examine images which present particular viewpoints, e.g.

1.Preparatory Activites
a.Drill Express your point of view on bullying.

Integration of ESP ( be kind to other kids) and Child Protection


Policy(Children are the foundation of society, and they have to be
protected in a very good way because abuse and neglect of children can
lead to negative consequences such as depression or anxiety )

b.Review What are the different kinds of stereotypes?

c.Unlocking of Difficulties What are the differences and similarities between stereotype and viewpoint?

d.Motivation Examine the illustration below. What opinion can you give
about men and women?

2.Introduction An image may create a number of meanings or interpretations.


It conveys viewpoints which are intentionally expressed by the
illustrators and may convey more varied viewpoints based on
the eyes and perspectives of the viewers. A viewer may just look
at the basic elements of an image but he or she may also view
an image with in-depth appreciation.

In this lesson, you will examine images which present


particular viewpoints like stereotypes (e.g. gender, age, culture)
and opinions on an issue.

3.Teaching/ Modelling Examine the illustrations below. What particular


characteristics of a mother are shown or portrayed?

What is your personal opinions about the characteristics of a


mother?

The way one gives his/her opinions or perceptions about


mothers is known as viewpoint.

Viewpoints vary from person to person.

The common perceptions on the characteristics of a mother is


known as stereotyping.

Integration of ESP( values about caring comforting and loving),


HEALTH ( taking care of the kids when illness occurs in the
family) and AP ( the culture of Filipinos about being prayerful
and talk about where we get the influence of Christianity)
