Greetings!

We, the Grade 12 students of Camarines Norte Senior High School, are currently working on a
research project titled, Coven: An Automated Solar-Powered Portable Copra Drying Device. This research
aims to develop a copra drying device to improve and acquire good moisture level for copra.

The development of COVEN will first undergo series of initial testing of drying coconut meat via
oven. There will be various amount of temperature and time duration applied to each trials and samples to
achieve the recommended moisture content. Afterwards, the samples will undergo color and moisture
content analysis and the gathered results from the chemical analysis will be utilized on the COVEN. The
trial that achieved and meet the recommended moisture level of copra will be programed on the device.
This includes the temperature used, the time it takes for the coconut meats to be dried and other steps
employed to attain quality yield of copra.

In line with this, we are hoping to avail the 10% discount on the analysis fee in your humble office.
The parameters needed to be tested on our samples are the color and moisture content to determine if
gathered copra samples achieved a quality grade copra yield. With regards to the amount of samples, we
will be sending 200 grams of sun dried copra and 200 grams of oven dried copra. Your facility and
equipment will surely guarantee us a reliable and accurate data that will greatly help us in our device.

Once this project is accomplished and proven to be effective, this innovation can be a big help for
our copra farmers to produce a better-quality copra thus resulting to better yields.
