LESSON 3 Ideas
May 17-21, 2022
The first two lessons of this final unit which are Features of Academic Writing and
Strategies for Effective Interpersonal Communication have already paved the way for
you to easily compose your own academic writing. This time, since you have learned that
academic writing requires deep evaluation of information to come up with factual
evidences, you are going to discover how to measure the worth, truthfulness, and
accuracy of every information present on different resources, especially in the world wide
web.
Ready to study this lesson? Note that you are expected to work on and complete
all the learning tasks of this lesson for 5 school days. Let's Do This! Task, must be
accomplished on or before May 21, 2022. Make sure to attend the virtual class where the
lesson will be deeply explained.
LESSON OBJECTIVES
LET’S DISCOVER!
Have you ever tried researching for a particular topic in the internet and compare
the information you have gathered with those information from books? What have you
noticed? Numerous websites, applications, and software brought by technology does
not always guarantee valuable, truthful, and accurate information.
Aside from honing your writing skills, let us also develop your researching skills by
learning how to filter information from various resources.
WORTH
Worth tells the essence of ideas of a text, material, or source. However, note that not all
relevant information are worth included. Be guided with these terms in determining the
worth of ideas.
1. Useful – Try to figure out if including that information or idea can contribute and
clarify your point in writing.
2. Updated – the worth of information will be lessened once it is past a decade or
more since there will be more relevant researches released at the present.

TRUTHFULNESS AND ACCURACY
Truthfulness and accuracy are two interwoven terms. When a thing is truthful, then
it is accurate, vice versa. But to further understand the two, let us look at their definitions.
Truthfulness is the quality of being honest and not containing any lies. (Cambridge
Dictionary)
Since you are expected to compose an academic writing at the end of this unit, you
have to be cautious not to include even a single piece of information that is faulty and
untrue.
