functions. Take a picture of your output and attached it here.

Layers of the skin:

● The epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, provides a waterproof barrier and
creates our skin tone.
● The dermis, beneath the epidermis, contains tough connective tissue, hair
follicles, and sweat glands.
● The deeper subcutaneous tissue (hypodermis) is made of fat and connective
tissue.

Structure and Layer of hair

● Medulla at the center, which is soft.

● Cortex, which surrounds the medulla and is the main part of the hair.
● Cuticle the hard outer layer that protects the shaft.
● The hair shaft is the visible part of the hair that sticks out of the skin
● The hair root is in the skin and extends down to the deeper layers of the skin.
● Hair follicle is attached to a tiny muscle (arrector pili) that can make the hair
stand up.
● Nerves sense hair movement and are sensitive to even the slightest draft.
● Hair bulb forms the base of the hair follicle.

Why do we give bed bath to our clients?

Nurses give bath to clients because it can help keep their skin healthy, control odor, and
increase comfort. Bed baths are used to physically clean dirt and microorganisms from
the skin of critically ill patients, thereby decreasing the risk of infection.

Define each categories of bed bath.

● Complete bed bath is a bath provided for clients who have difficulty getting out of
bed, are experiencing excessive pain, or have other physical or cognitive issues
that make other types of bathing less tolerable.
● Partial bath includes washing the face, underarms, arms, hands, and perineal
(genital and anal) area. Partial baths are given daily to maintain hygiene.
● Self-help bed bath is when a client is confined to bed but still able to wash
themselves with the help of nurses.
● Bagg bath is a commercially prepared product that contains 10 to 12 presoaked
disposable washcloths that contain no-rinse cleanser solution. Used for agitated
& aggressive client.
● Tub bath is done when the resident is able to safely get in and out of the tub or
shower.
● Shower bath is usually done for patients who only require minimal or no
assistance.
● Therapeutic bath combines water and additives to soothe and relax the patient,
relieve fatigue and sore muscles and joints, clean the skin, relieve inflammation
and pruritus, and soften and remove crusts, scales, debris, and old medications.
Used primarily for their antipruritic and emollient actions, these baths coat
