Section 1: Rationale (minimum of 100 words)

This year I have undertaken my known knowledge on Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe
Animate and photoshop and improved upon it.

A way I demonstrated that was for my specialist subject on found footage where I
had to take assets from around the internet and research a lot using sources from
Wikipedia as well as wayback machine to access information that is no longer
available and many more. I have also improved my skills on aftereffects, and I
have successfully made a title sequence using the green screen and my tutor Ben
Lomas as my model for my project and photoshop for the images.

My title sequence was done in the style of Star Wars the Mandalorian ending
credits where it’s done as a cartoony art style and has the camera zooming into
the character the story was about a man called John wood stuck in a space station
as his ship crashed landed on a planet.

the man had to look for parts to fix his spaceship around the planet and the space
station a way I demonstrated this was by taken pictures of my tutor in different
positions using the green screen room and put him in different scenes using
photoshop and adobe after effects I successfully finished it and uploaded it to
YouTube and my Weebly site. I also have learnt how to use cinema 4D and have
learnt how to make a basic sequence using it.

When I first started level 3-year 2 media, I had no idea or knowledge on

aftereffects and cinema 4D but by following the tutorials given to me by my tutors
on teams as well as being taught in class and additional support due to my
disability.

I feel proud of myself as I have improved my knowledge and can now us the
software more confidently without support. I also think my skills on Adobe Animate
has improved and can now use it more confidently I have demonstrated this by
using Adobe Animate on making an Ambient loop for my animation class. My
ambient loop was set in a garden, and I added a plane from google images into
Photoshop edited it then put in on to my animation and I then tween It I also used
stop motion and animated the trees and to make a leaf fall. I feel proud of what I
accomplished compared to last year and I feel more confident about using animate
and less negative like in past years.

I think the thing that influenced me for Final major project was when I did my
specialist subject, I really enjoyed the whole idea of making a documentary on
something I enjoyed or had an interest in I think personally my documentary could
have been a bit better for my specialist subject but due to deadlines I had to rush
the end of it.
This time I hope to have a better and more well-designed documentary that not
only I can be proud of but also my tutors and other people I show it too as well.

I think going into it this time I have more experience and I feel I can build upon the
mistakes I made in the past as I think I have more knowledge that will help me
achieve a better more polished documentary and hopefully help me reach a good
grade.

Section 2: Project Concept (minimum of 200 words)

A concept for my final major project is a video documentary about Parkinson’s and
dementia this is very personal for me as a couple years ago my grandad passed
away who had Parkinson’s and dementia. I think by making this documentary it will
make more people aware of the troubles the people who have Parkinson’s and
dementia go through on a daily basis as well as inform those who might not know
much about it. The resources I will be using will be from the NHS as well as the
current knowledge I already have and information from relatives with letters and
forms that we have received in the past to back it up.

I will also aim to interview one of my family members and some of the former
nurses my grandad had and get them to share some information on the
experience they have had with dealing with someone who has had Parkinson’s
and dementia I will also talk about current problems and solutions as well as list
some charities that support Parkinson’s and the impact it has made in the world, I
anticipate a 5-to-10-minute video but may go over depending on how much
information I may use.

For my documentary I will write a script and a storyboard as well as a location

recce and risk assessment I will include questions to ask the interviewee I may
also include a short film about Parkinson’s and dementia. For my video
documentary I will use Adobe premiere pro and possibly Adobe After Effects I may
also take additional research from websites like YouTube to give me more ideas
and possibly help on my documentary video, I will use some of my family members
in the documentary.

I will also use social media websites (TikTok) to generate interest for my
documentary for a little teaser with a link to my YouTube channel where my full
and finished video will be with a little message in the description asking for their
thoughts and opinions of my documentary.
Section 3: Evaluation – How you plan to record your progress (minimum of 100
words)
I plan to record my progress in a daily production diary on weebly explaining
everything I’ve used or done during the day I will back this up by providing a bit of
information so if I am doing a bit of sound, I will show the sound clip I was using
and if I am doing a bit of film for my documentary, I will show it off by showing a
clip or screen grab I was working on during the day.

I will also take down some personal notes at home on what to do next as a plan
and something to refer to if I am stuck. I think it is also good to have something I
can put notes down as it will help me progress and keep to a plan.

Another away I record my progress is through questionnaires and feedback from

my peers for example if I interview someone after I show it to them they may give
me advice or feedback on what I could change etc.

Proposed Research Sources

I will use YouTube for research on my documentary as well as looking at other

examples to help give me an idea. I may also use it for additional support through
tutorials etc if I am stuck on a piece of software like adobe premiere for example.

I will use Google search for my research using sites like the NHS and other
sources also knowledge from family and relatives notes forms and things to do
with dementia and Parkinson’s I will also speak to some of the nurses who deals
with people who have Parkinson’s and dementia and who is a family friend I will
also look at some charities focussing on dementia and Parkinson's as seen down
below.

dementia and also NHS links to do with Parkinson’s and dementia as well as
researching connections to Parkinson’s and dementia

Voiceover recorded on my computer using a microphone for my documentary

Skills to develop/learn

I need to work on my creativity a bit more as at times I lack the ability to think
creatively and give up on my idea or choose the easy option instead for pushing
myself.

I need to work on my time management skill and aim to achieve my target grade
and finish my final major production on time and not miss out the deadlines as in
the past I have just gone over or left it last minute which affected my grade last
year.

I need to improve upon my problem-solving as sometimes I may get stuck on bit

on my paper or on a software from projects and I just give up so I need to try and
have more resilience to push through problems I may encounter.

Personnel and responsibilities

Family members/friends/nurses for interviewing.
Myself for voiceover, editing, and directing for the documentary.
Information from friends and family and external sources.

Intended audience and context

My intended Audience is 16+ for all genders and my video is intended to inform
and make people aware of Parkinson’s and dementia as I personally think it isn’t
talked about as much as it should be and I think particularly people in my sort of
age range don’t really know much about diseases unless it’s been advertised on tv
or social media sites like Instagram Twitter Facebook etc so it will really benefit
people my age and older and spread a message so more will be aware of the
problems and I think it will also demonstrate my ability in getting this information
over to my target audience through my images video and more for my
documentary I am creating.

I think my video would be used for TikTok or NHS as guidance advice and an
awareness video.

Creative Mindsets
Ownership- I will be using ownership by making my own decisions on different pieces for
my documentary by finding information and things I can use for it like letters, forms, etc I
will also take responsibility by organizing everything to do with it and as much
independently as possible as this is key to making a successful documentary.

Critical Thinking- I will be using critical thinking by coming up with new ways of doing
things or bringing different ideas and being open to feedback from my peers for example
coming up with another way of filming something or wording things differently so its easier
for me or other people to understand.

Problem Solving- I will be using problem solving to find ways of getting past a problem I
might encounter during the making of my documentary and think creatively on ways of
getting passed that problem by using secondary research or even re filming 1 section of
the documentary and finding the best ways of moving forward from that problem.

Creativity-I will be using creativity by exploring new ideas I may come up with in the
making of my documentary like maybe making a change to the script or finding new
people to interview or gather information from.

Risk Taking- I will take a risk by maybe going the extra mile and trying something I may
not have that much experience In like maybe trying something new on adobe premiere
pro or try a new way of getting the information over to my intended audience.

Collaboration-I will be using collaboration with interviewing the chosen people and
working within the times suitable of them and giving the advice and receiving feedback
from them I may also be collaborating with some classmates if called upon and offer them
advice and feedback.

How to successfully complete a final major project

1. Do something you enjoy – look back on projects this year and think about
what skills you’ve learnt and which you have really enjoyed. What job would
you like to do in the future? How can you apply it to your project? Pick a
theme or themes which you can connect with.
LOVE YOUR PROJECT

2. Do lots and lots of research – primary and secondary are both essential.
Use a wide range of methods and resources, such as questionnaires,
surveys, interviews (Primary), and researching the work of professional
practitioners and techniques (Secondary).

3. Manage your time – 10 weeks is not long. Just think how fast this year has
gone so far. Plan ahead and don’t fall behind. MAKE USE OF
INDEPENDENT STUDY TIME.

4. You must document everything what happens as you go along. Your entire
journey from start to finish should be fully recorded. Describe and analyse as
you go along. Every aspect of your project should be fully considered. Your
Planning and Schedule will be vital to the success of your FMP
5. Research, design, experiment, build, evaluate. Your project should evolve
over the allotted time. Be flexible and adaptable if your FMP decides to go in
a different direction than first intended. Ensure you record all developments as
the project develops.

6. Critically analyse and evaluate – this will refer to the research you
undertake, the pre-production, production and post-production. Don’t just
describe but analyse, interpret, research and evaluate.

7. Listen to advice from your lecturers in formative assessment sessions

throughout the project. You might just find that as we are used to marking
work we know what the requirements are to make good/exceptional projects.
Remember, your work will be graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction, so aim
for the best grade you can and take advice on board when given.

8. You are being graded against SEVEN Learning Outcomes, so you need to
ensure that you do the very best in each of them to achieve the grade you
may require, so pay close attention to all parts of the FMP
