1. PURPOSE: Star up of Seal air fan

2. SCOPE: All three units
3. RESPONSIBILITY: Desk Engineers
4. DURATION: 5 mins

5. OUTPUT: Proper operation of seal air fan prevents ingress of coal dust to bearing of feeder and mill also
prevents coal ingress in oil system of the milling system.

6. PROCEDURE:

6.1 PRE-CHECKS

6.1.1 Equipment is electrically normalized and 415 V supply is available.

6.1.2 Local control switches in remote mode.
6.1.3 No fault indication is coming in relay panel.
6.1.4 Fan suction damper is in open condition (50-70%) (full open in case of VFD)
6.1.5 VFD OP should be zero before starting.
6.1.6 Fan discharge is in closed condition.
6.1.7 Standby fan discharge is in closed condition (if not running) and bearing oil level is not less than 60%.

6.2 STARTING PROCEDURE:

6.2.1. Start Fan Motor and ensure that motor current.

6.2.2. Gradually increase the speed in case of VFD.
6.2.3. Observe full opening of fan discharge damper in Auto.
6.2.4. Gradually open fan suction damper as per requirement.
6.2.5. Open individual Mill inlet seal air manually and motorized valve as per requirement.

6.3. Post check:

6.3.1. Motor current should be normal.

6.3.2. Motor and fan bearing temperature should be within limited (feel with hand and temperature Gun,
not greater than 70 0C)
6.3.3. Motor and fan bearing vibration should be normal.
6.3.4. Check no abnormal sound is coming from fan and motor and no leakage is present.

7. QUALITY:

7.1 All the parameters, activities are maintained within prescribed limit.

7.2 Any deviation from the norm is recorded and corrective action is taken accordingly

8. ENVIRONMENT: NA

9. OHSAS:

9.1 Persons deployed on the work must use safety helmets, shoes, goggles, dust masks & hand gloves.
9.2 Before starting of any operation, ensure all standard clearance from main control room and shift in charge.
9.3 Ensure deployment of a group of people (2 or more) while carrying out job in an isolated or deserted
place in night shift.
