1. PURPOSE: Start up and operation of high level drain pump

2. SCOPE: Common system
3. RESPONSIBILITY: Desk Engineers
4. DURATION: 5 mins

5. OUTPUT: Proper operation of High level drain pump is required for preservation and backfilling, hydro
test of Boiler and operated in recirculation while sample checking.

6. PROCEDURE:
6.1 Start Prechecks:

6.1.1 415 V supply should be available.

6.1.2 Discharge valve to be kept closed. Recirculation valve to be kept opened.
6.1.3 High level sampling line isolation valve to be kept closed.

6.2. Starting Sequence:-

6.2.1. Open the suction v/v.

6.2.2. Close the discharge v/v.
6.2.3. Oil level should be 70%.
6.2.4. Start the pump (Normal - 100 A)
6.2.5. Discharge pr. should be 8.0 bar.
6.2.6. Now slowly open discharge valve up to requirement and motor current. Recirculation valve to be closed.

6.3. Stopping Procedure:-

6.3.1. Close the discharge valve fully.

6.3.2. Now stop pump from the local panel using local push button. After pump stops, release the push button.
6.3.3. Suction will remain open.

7 QUALITY:

7.1All the parameters, activities are maintained within prescribed limit.

7.2Any deviation from the norm is recorded and corrective action is taken accordingly

8 ENVIRONMENT:

Not applicable.

9. OHSAS:

9.1 Persons deployed on the work must use safety helmets, shoes, goggles, dust masks & hand gloves.
9.2 Before starting of any operation, ensure all standard clearance from main control room and shift in charge.
9.3 Ensure deployment of a group of people (2 or more) while carrying out job in an isolated or deserted
place in night shift.
