Lưu ý: Khi câu hỏi có chứa từ “like” hoặc “dislike”, các em cố gắng hãy “diễn đạt lại (paraphrase)” các
từ khoá chính trong câu hỏi để tránh lặp từ nhé!
Ex: Useful language:

Ở đây, ta có thể thấy, để tránh lặp từ “like” trong câu hỏi, bạn thí sinh đã chọn nói là
“Absolutely”. Ngoài ra, bạn cũng bổ sung thêm chi tiết, ví dụ về loại nhạc mà mình thích để kéo dài
câu trả lời hơn.

1. Do you like playing basketball ?
Well, I think I’m a big fan of basketball, although I’m not really good at it. You know, I can often
meet new people and make friends when I play the sports. And as I think that, you know, practicing
basketball regularly does wonder for my health. It keeps me in shape, it helps to relieve my back and
neck pains. And last but not least, it refreshes my mind after a long day of hard work.
2. Do you like playing video games ?
Yes, definitely. My favorite game is Plants Vs. Zombies, which is quite popular in Vietnam. I’ve
already finished half of the missions, but I’m afraid that I will have to stop playing it for a while to
prepare for my final exam at high school.

ANSWERING TACTICS
a. Trả lời tần suất mình thực hiện hoạt động đó: Sử dụng các Adverbs of Frequency
Các từ chỉ mức độ thường xuyên hay gặp:

Lưu ý: Nếu hành động đó không có tần suất hoạt động cố định, các em có thể sử dụng các cụm “It
depends”; “It is dependent on …”. Sau đó, chúng ta có thể giải thích vì sao lại có sự không cố định đó (có
thể so sánh giữa các khoảng thời gian khác nhau)

Well, it depends. There were times I did it everyday of the week because I had to stay awake to study for an
exam, while there were times I totally abandoned the drink to get a better sleep.

nghiệm của bản thân để câu trả lời được tự nhiên nhất.

Mở rộng: My favorite shopping place is Big C supermarket, which is located near my home. I usually go
there with my mother because she knows best about all the good stuff in that supermarket.

PRACTICE
Practice these questions with your partner.
1. How often do you use plastic bag?
Pretty much everyday, I think, but I’m trying my best to cut down on the number of plastic bags
that me and family everyday since there have been numerous studies show that it is harmful to the
environment.
2. How often do you use public transportation?
Almost every day. Since my house is so far away from my university, it’s impossible for me to travel
by motorbike. In addition, the air is heavily polluted by exhaust fumes and traffic jams always take
place, especially during peak hours. Thus, I’d prefer to use public vehicles, particularly the bus, to
save time, save gasoline and cause less pollution.
SPEAKING EXTRA
Game on: Flip a coin with your partner. Take time to flip a coin and ask and answer questions about the
topic on the boardgame map.
Head: Move forward 1 square & answer question type “Do you like X” with the topic on the picture
Tail: Move forward 2 squares & answer question type “How often do you do X” with the topic on the
picture.
The first person to get to the end is the winner!

Task 1: What are the causes of air pollution?
- Natural causes: volcanoes, animal wastes, algae (tảo), silt (phù sa) from flood.
- Human causes: sewage, fertilizers and pesticides, waste from factories and construction sites, acid
rain, oil spillage.
Task 2: What are the effects of air pollution on the atmosphere?
- death of aquatic animals, disruption of food chains, diseases.
Task 3: What could we do to control air pollution?
- Look for the correct bins for throwing waste.
- Close the tap when not in use (save water)
- Do not throw waste chemicals, oils and medicines in the sink drain.
- Do not overuse pesticides and fertilizers.
- Try planting more & more trees.

Exercise 2: Choose 2 out 6 questions to answer. Remember to use those tactics you have learned in class
and record yourself speaking.
