Introduction

What is Work Immersion? Work Immersion is a Senior High School Curriculum

component that includes 80 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation for grade

12 students. The students will be exposed to the actual work environment and enrich

their competencies. This will be provided by the school under the supervision of the

school head and the designated personnel of the partner.

Nevertheless, due to the COVID-19 pandemic threat, the learners’ physical attendance

in school is prohibited, which means they cannot provide students with real workplace

experience and exposure to and become familiar with work-related environments that

relate to their field of specialization. The Dep Ed set the Memorandum DM-CI-2020-

00085 for the implementation of all senior high schools during this crisis so that all

activities in all tracks can be performed in different schemes. And this portfolio is the

new requirement for work immersion to complete the immersion of the students to

graduate.

What is the purpose of the Work Immersion Portfolio? The work immersion portfolio

will be the requirement for the students and the evidence of their immersion. This

portfolio will be used to document and evaluate the knowledge, skills, and work habits

of the students that they acquire in school and at home. It provides the learning and

achievements of the students during their work immersion time and in their

specialization subjects, as well as the problems that they faced and how they resolved

them. The portfolio will contain their reflections on their experiences and learning in

work immersion and skills related to their specialized subject.

Acknowledgement

The compilation of this portfolio is completed and could not have been possible without

the participation and assistance of many people. Their contributions are sincerely

appreciated and acknowledged. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude,

appreciation, and even indebtedness, particularly to the following:

To my family, who supported me in everything that I did in school and on my journey to

achieving my dreams and their dreams.

My friends, who are beside me on my journey in school, always give me moral support

and help with my schoolwork.

To my teachers, who teach and give us invaluable guidance throughout this academic

year,

To my classmates, the people who will help me in my school crisis,

To myself, for having the courage to face such a significant challenge in my life.

And to the Almighty God for blessing and protecting me in my daily life during the

COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you very much.

the nation’s development targets.

This subject will provide the learners with the following objectives:

2. for employment simulation

3. To apply their competencies in areas of specialization/ applied subject’s in

authentic work environments

Contents (A Short Background)

What is the COOKERY NCII? The Cookery NCII is a program provides knowledge and skills

in the use of kitchen tools, preparing and cooking hot and cold meals. This is a technical-

vocational program that develop skills in planning, preparing, cooking and serving

various menus. Students under the Cookery NCII program are trained in different food

preparation and presentation techniques based on industry standards.

What is the COOKERY NCII's purpose? The TVL track's cookery strand is one of the

specialized subjects in the GAS track in senior high school. You will gain knowledge and

skills in preparing a variety of dishes if you study this specialized subject. It also gives

you an ideas and hands-on experience in specific areas of food preparation,

presentation, and appreciation. The cookery NCII consists of the skills required for a

student to clean kitchen areas and prepare hot and cold meals and desserts.

Is COOKERY a difficult or easy subject to learn? As a student pursuing the cookery course

in the Gas Track, it is both easy and difficult for me. Cooking unfamiliar dishes is as

difficult as making them delicious in the eyes of your teacher and classmates. Even

though I studied this subject in grade 9, it is still difficult for me to cook and prepare

diverse dishes because they are not the same as what we make at home. However,

while it is difficult, it is also entertaining and enhances your cooking skills. This strand

has a lot to offer as well. It will not only increase your talents, but it will also present you

with a prosperous future.

Overall Reflection & Self Appraisal

Making this portfolio was hard and challenging for me, but with the guidance of

our Work Immersion Teacher, Mary Rose San Felipe, and other resources, I

finished it. I also learned a lot when putting together this work immersion

portfolio and acquiring valuable experience in our specialized subject by preparing

different foods or dishes. But it is also sad that we can’t explore more in our

specialized subjects because of the threat of the pandemic and the need to

minimize the actual experience in school.

When I was developing this portfolio, I realized that there were so many things

that I needed to learn, but because of this portfolio, I gained an understanding of

it and now have that sort of experience, such as making resumes and application

letters that we will need in the future when we apply for jobs. The cookery course

in the Gas track also provides me with knowledge and experience that will aid me

in what lies ahead in increasing my talents and skills, which I will be able to utilize

for my future desires. Through this, I can carry and bring this knowledge wherever

or whatever the future brings to me.

Overall, this final requirement, which is this portfolio in Work Immersion, is

evidence and reflection of my learning for this academic year. It provides the

learning and the achievement of mine during this work immersion simulation and
in our specialized subject, which is the Cookery NCII program track. And a

particular thanks to Ma’am Mary Rose San Felipe, our gen Z Work Immersion

teacher, for guiding and teaching me/us about this immersion. Thank you so

much, Ma'am!
