STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

My dream of being at the top most heart of entrepreneurship and business leadership began at a very
young age when all the people I looked up to were all business-oriented minds, this was later powered
by my mentor the late Bob Colymore (former CEO Safaricom plc) whose leadership led to the
success of the company till date. I was born in a local village in Konoin constituency in Bomet county
on 13th May 1994.

My academic journey began from nursery school at Kimory academy in 1999 and continued
all the way till I sat for my Kenya certificate of primary education in 2008 and scored 323 marks out
of the possible 500. I joined Tengecha Boys High School in 2009 and since then, my high school
education played a crucial role for the love of mathematics and science subjects. I worked hard in my
academics which was key towards my success in the future and eventually attained a mean grade of B
(plain) in my Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education in 2013. This enabled me to join Egerton
University (Njoro Campus) in 2014 to pursue a Bachelors degree Arts in which I majored in
Mathematics and Economics. While I was pursuing my degree, I remained focus and grateful that the
course offered business related units which comprised of Statistics, Economics, Data analytics.

During my undergraduate program I was still committed to enhance my capacity for business
career by taking related professional courses such as statistical packages for social sciences (SPSS).
The Undergraduate program was heavily detailed in elaborating the process of data collection,
recording, analysis and interpretation. To add to my professionalism, I had an opportunity to pursue
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) course with KASNEB up to section II, it comprised of Financial
accounting, Law, Qualitative analysis and Taxation. I completed my undergraduate degree in 2018
and graduated with a Second-Class Lower. During my student days in campus, I spent most of the
weekends visiting children’s home, this was events organized by our Professional Accountants and
Secretaries Association (PASA).

After graduation my dream of becoming a business man started, I began brainstorming and
looking for opportunities which would take me to greater heights or top levels in business tables. As a
child of a low middle-class family, my capital couldn’t allow me to venture into top businesses, I
decided to venture into agricultural business with the help of my father’s land. I came to appreciate
my knowledge in business analysis and management as this are the skills that has kept me alive in the
agribusiness and has also made me venture into transport and logistics industry, which was inspired
from transport of agricultural products to the market. Business analysis guided me on the best crops to
supply to the market when the rates are high thus bringing in high income, also adding in to the latest
trends in the markets.

Throughout the same, I have come to appreciate Business Analysts as they are the backbone
of success for any business and moving forth, I envision myself finding a position within the same
sphere of decision makers who determine the tide of major business across globe. Hence, I wish to
acquire these skills through Masters in Business Analytics and Information Management at the
University of Delaware. This is because University of Delaware offers quality education
internationally and with advanced teaching and research, with highly experienced lecturers. This will
provide me with a solid background in business analytics thus strengthening my analytical and
information systems which will place me in a good place of promoting self-business and also being in
a position of getting a job in the largest professional firms in the globe.

The diversity in the university of Delaware will give me an opportunity to interact with great
minds, great ideas, life skills and great problem-solving solutions. This is because I do believe my
mind hasn’t reached its limit and is always willing to learn something new. With a Master’s in
Business Analytics and Information Management at the University of Delaware. I will be able to
eradicate economic crisis in the globe and also be able to come up with better solution strategies in
time. The greatest opportunity will be giving back to the society and inspire my younger siblings,
youths and the entire community at large that education is the key to success, and that their dreams
can also be realized.
