ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Teacher draws a map of Africa on the board. Teacher asks students
to tell you the name of the country at the bottom of the continent.
Teacher highlights the fact box and the pronunciation of buffalo
and leopard. Teacher asks students what other information they
know about South Africa.
LESSON DELIVERY Activity 1 (SB page 46)
1. Students look at the pictures. They use the animal words
from the Fact box and from exercise 1 of the previous
lesson to identify as many of the animals in the pictures as
possible. Give help with vocabulary if necessary.

1. Teacher explains the task. Students listen to the CD and
follow the text in their books. They write the answer to the
question in their notebooks.
2. They compare answers in pairs. Teacher the answer to the
question as a class and make sure students understand
monkey.

students understand why we say an animal. Ask why we cannot
use a with guests. Elicit that it is because guests is plural.
