Information is a powerful tool.

It can be meaningfully used or indiscriminately

misused. When you encounter a piece of information, how would you react then?
Believe at once? Give the benefit of the doubt? Try to verify? Find out the
credibility of the information including sources? Why? How would you practice
the techniques of external and internal criticisms in other aspects of your
everyday life.

Information is indeed a powerful tool, especially with continuous progression of

technology. Further elevating its importance in the modern world. But with great utmost
importance, comes great responsibility on how we use the information relayed. Giving
us the choice on how we will assess relayed information or give the benefit of the doubt
and believe it as is.
The progression of technology made acquiring information easier and at the
same time misinformation becomes rampant. “Fake news” as we call it has caused
people who read information on the internet to verify or check the credibility of the
source and where it came from. Being more noticeable on social media where the
exchange of information is constantly happening. When information is acquired or
relayed, I always verify the source and confirm its credibility. Unless, the source is
someone I have already verified is a credible source of information then I would give
him the benefit if the doubt and trust the relayed information. Verifying information
allows me to avoid misinformation or “fake news”. Allowing for a beneficial exchange
and keep away from negatively affecting other.
With the 20th century being called as the “age of information”, the boom of the
internet caused the accessibility for information simpler. Verifying information became
more relevant. Wherein practicing techniques of external and internal criticism comes in
our everyday lives. Giving me a reason to practice these techniques when acquiring
information that can or will be used to my benefit. Information that will greatly contribute
on how I deal with everyday situations and improving my execution of tasks at hand.
