At the end of 60- minutes class discussion the Grade 4 pupils should be able to do the

A. Identify the prepositional phrase in the sentence


B. Use preposition on, in, above, and under in a sentence.
C. Show the location of objects by in, on, above and under correctly

A preposition is a word or group of words Yes Ma’am!


used before a noun, pronoun, or noun
phrase to show direction, place, location, to
introduce an object. Some examples are in,
on, under, and above.

Based on the song that we have sing, where is


the monkey?
Ma’am the monkey is in the box.
So let us picture out the line of the song. I have
a box here; I am going to put the monkey inside
the box.

Now, where is the monkey again?

Ma’am the monkey is in the box.


Very good! When we say in it means inside.

How about the second line of the song where is

Correct! So again, I have here a picture of a tree
and the bird. Where is now the bird?

Definitely! When we say on, it means it is on
top.

In the third line of the song where is the snake?

the snake is under of this rock. Again, where is
the snake?

Let’s have a game, we call this game as
“passing the box.” Inside the box has many
pieces of paper which has a written sentence.
All you have to do is to is to pass the box to
your classmates, while the music is playing.
Once the music stops the pupil holding the box
will pick a piece of paper inside the box. You
should read the word written on it and all of you
will do what thus the written word says. If you
do it correctly, I will do thumbs up and if it is
not correct, I will do thumbs down. And I will
play again the music.
