III.) Procedures

A. Preparation

Good Morning

-Before we pray, kindly pick up some pieces of paper under your chair and make sure that your chairs
are properly arranged.

-May I request Gloria Mel Lumawag to lead the prayer.

-You may now take your seats.

-Is everybody present today?

-Very Good, give yourselves around of applause for a perfect attendance.

So now class, since our lesson yesterday was about the bases and exponents. I want you to group
yourselves into 2. (Start counting here?

-Okay listen, I prepared 5 questions for you to answer, let see if you can still remember the topic that we
have discussed last meeting.

Every group should make a yell or sound, Anything, it's up to you.Yell first before the answer. But
remember if you say the answer without any yell or sounds, you'll not be recognized. Is it clear? Okay I'll
give you 1 minute to make your yell or sound.

Are you ready?

Okay, For you question no. 1, what is the answer of...

-Thank you for your participation and you may now go back to your proper seats.

B. Presentation

- Now class let's proceed to our lesson today which is about the Product Rule of Exponents.

Let's read this altogether!

" The Product Rule of Exponents states that when multiplying exponential expressions that have the
same base, add their exponents.

Thank You!

It means that when we multiply exponential expressions that have the same bases, we just simply add
their exponents.

For example: x² • x² = x⁵

Since they do have the same base which is "x" therefore we just have to add their exponents.

Is it clear?

How about this one? (y⁴)(x²), what do you think is the answer? okay Gloria?

Is it right class?

Okay since Jelwin said yes, can you explain me why?

Very Good! Clap your hands to jelwin and gloria.

Btw, complete the statement, " the more examples the easier to ......?
VERY GOOD, Another Example! (a²)(b³)(a³) = a⁵b³, since a² and a³ have the same base, therefore we can
add their exponents which is equal to a⁵ but we cannot add a⁵ to b³ since their bases are not the same.
Understood?

Very Good!

C. Application

Now who wants to answer the equations on the board.

-(the teacher calls the name of the student randomly)

1. b⁵ • b³

2. x²y²(x²)

3. 9ab(2b²)

4. 3tb (3t³)

5. -2b² (2ab)

So class, do you have any questions?

- If none then Kindly get 1/4 sheet of paper and answer the following equations.

Yes dear!

IV. Testing/Evaluation

Simplify the following expression using the product rule of Exponents.

1.(4a²)²

2. b⁵(a²c)

3. -3t²(-2b²)

4. (2r²y³)(3r³y²)

5. (y³b⁵)²

Answers:

1. 16a⁴

2. b⁵a²c

3. 6t²b²
4. 6r⁵y⁵

5. y⁶b¹⁰

V. Assignment

In 1/2 sheet of paper, simplify each expression.

1. (-4a²y)² 4. (abcde)³(abc)²

2. (2a²b)(2ab)² 5. (2²)(2⁵)

3. (-b²a)³
