Research Instrument

In this study, the researchers will use questionnaires as their instrument in

gathering data. A questionnaire is a series of questions asked to individuals to obtain
statistically useful information about a given topic. The researchers will float
questionnaires to the 217 Grade 12 HUMSS students which consist of questions that
are related to the topic of this study. The type of questionnaire that is used is Closed-
ended Questionnaires where respondents’ answers are limited to a fixed set of
responses.
The type of close-ended questionnaire that was used was scaled questionnaire,
specifically the Likert Scale which is a psychometric scale commonly involved in
research that employs questionnaires to measure social attitudes. This consists of 5
possible responses per statement that have numerical value and corresponding
descriptive equivalent. The questions have corresponding choices that are stated in
declarative form. The respondents will answer the questions by rating each statement
according to how they agree or disagree with the statements. The respondents can
choose from five ratings; Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, Strongly Disagree.

The first question aims to identify the level of self-confidence the students have.
Meanwhile, the succeeding questions specifically contain the possible academic
performances of the students with regard to their self-confidence. Consequently, the
scores that will be accumulated from the respondents are to be analyzed and
interpreted in order to answer the problems of this study.
