Re-submission You will be provided feedback on your performance by the Assessor. The
opportunities feedback will indicate if you have satisfactorily addressed the requirements
of each part of this task. If any parts of the task are not satisfactorily
completed, the assessor will explain why, and provide you with written
feedback along with guidance on what you must undertake to demonstrate
satisfactory performance. Re-assessment attempt(s) will be arranged at a
later time and date. You have the right to appeal the outcome of assessment
decisions if you feel that you have been dealt with unfairly or have other
appropriate grounds for an appeal. You are encouraged to consult with the
assessor prior to attempting this task if you do not understand any part of
this task or if you have any learning issues or needs that may hinder you
when attempting any part of the task.

Answer all the questions below:

Question 1

Explain each of the following estimating techniques and how each can be used to
determine task duration and resource effort within a project.

Estimating techniques Explanation (40-80 words/estimating technique)

Analogous Estimating it is an approach that provides a cost estimate based on the data
provided using data from comparable projects. In order to prove the
data's reusability, analogous estimation must incorporate expert
opinion. When there is not enough knowledge about the project,
analogous estimation is employed.
Parametric Model Estimating is a method for estimating the time, money, and resources required
for a project to be successful that is based on statistics and accuracy.
Parametric estimating leverages the connection between variables to
get precise estimates by combining historical and statistical data.
3 Point Estimating In management and information systems applications, the three-point
estimating approach is used to create an approximative probability
distribution that represents the outcome of future occurrences, based
on relatively little information.
Expert Judgment Estimating It is a method of project estimating that relies on the expert's
assumption to evaluate quantitative project considerations, such as
deadlines and prospective assets.
Reserve Analysis An explanation of how to establish a saving for the plan term,
budget, assessed fetch, or stores for an extent by determining the
main highlights and connections of the several components inside the
project management plan.
Bottom-Up Analysis An approach focuses on looking at individual stocks. Thus, in
bottom-up investing, the speculator places more emphasis on a

Estimating techniques Explanation (40-80 words/estimating technique)
specific firm than on the sector in which that company operates or
the overall state of the economy.

Question 2

Describe the critical path of a project and explain the steps used to identify it using the
Critical Path Method.

(50-100 words)

The Critical Path Method (CPM) is a method for determining schedule flexibility and identifying activities
required for project completion. The longest series of tasks that must be completed on schedule for the
project to be concluded is known as a critical path in project management. The rest of the project will be
delayed if important activities are delayed.
1. List Activities
2. Establish Dependencies
3. Make a Network Diagram
4. Gauge Task Duration
5. Calculate Critical Path
6. Determine the Float

Question 3

Explain the concept of a project baseline, the procedures for establishing project
baselines and how to manage adjustments to a project baseline due to a major change to
project scope, cost or schedule.

(80-120 words)

Project Baseline establishes the point at which the project will start, how its outcomes will be assessed at
each status reporting period, and how it will be compared to initial expectations. The creation of an extended
arrangement and the recognizable proof of the alterations that can be acknowledged or rejected amid the
execution life cycle are key components of the arranging and assessment preparation.
Making an extended pattern is simple to do, however it relies on your approach. For instance, you could use
the following techniques: Project Schedule (Contingency) and Project Budget Actuals

Question 4

Summarise the project life cycle phases and describe each phase.

Project phase Summary and description (40-80 words/phase)
Initiation The initiation phase is the first phase of the whole project
management life cycle. This phase's goals are to define the initiative,
develop a business case for it, and secure approval. During this
period, the project director may perform any of the following: Make a
feasibility analysis, Create a project charter, Identify key stakeholders
and select tools for project management
Planning The planning phase is crucial to creating an extensive guide that the
entire team can follow. In order to match the requirements outlined
by the business, here is frequently where all of the nuanced parts
and objectives are diagrammed.
Implementation (execution) The majority of the extension occurs during the execution phase.
Deliverables are created to indubitably form the project's assembly
requirements. The majority of the time, resources, and people are
frequently committed to this part of the project. A kickoff assembly is
organised to confirm the formal start of the execution stage, as was
previously mentioned.
Closing (finalisation) Within the project management life cycle, the closure stage could be
a fundamental phase. It marks the project's formal end and provides
time for reflection, wrapping up, and material organising.

Question 5

Select and explain three best-practice time management methodologies. For each,
summarise their capabilities, limitations, applications and outcomes.

Best-practice time management Explanation and summary of capabilities, limitations,

methodologies applications and outcomes. (50-100 words/best practice)
Pareto Analysis According to the presentation, Vilfredo Pareto, an Italian financial
expert, may have invented the 80/20 rule. The idea holds that 20%
of actions may provide 80% of results. The goal of the Pareto
analysis is to help you select tasks that are most effective in solving
problems.
Pomodoro Technique This method uses a clock to divide your work into intervals. Due to
Cirillo's tomato-shaped clock, each interval is referred to as a
Pomodoro. The Pomodoro technique not only teaches you how to
manage your time effectively, but also how to develop goals and
carry them through. You'll be able to better stick to your week by
week and day by day plans.
Rapid Planning Method (RPM) RPM, often known as a "outcome, rationale, and massive activity
plan," stands for "rapid arranging method." Motivational speaker Tony
Robbins developed it as a strategy to get your mind ready to focus on
a picture of what you need so that you'll make it genuine.

Question 6

Summarise the following key tools for project scheduling.

Schedule Network Analysis
Schedule Network Analysis A technique that is frequently used in extension administration. The
approach entails visualising the various project tasks and connecting
them inside the project management framework.
Critical Path Analysis According to Critical Path Analysis, some tasks are required to be
finished on time in order for the project as a whole to be finished on
time. It also knows which jobs may be put off in case resources need
to be redistributed to catch up on neglected or intrusive errands.
Schedule Compression Schedule compression refers to a group of techniques used to
shorten the duration of a project without sacrificing the outcome.
Slamming, fast-tracking, and asset reallocation are examples of
common plan compression techniques.

Question 7

Explain how a work breakdown structure is used to create project schedules (50-100
words).

A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) separates tasks and products that are connected across a certain
distance. Each element of the WBS that promotes budgeting and the job of responsibilities has an associated
asset. The WBS may be used to determine the extend's fundamental strategy and create the extend plan.
