KEBERKESANAN PELAKSANAAN PROGRAM HARI SUAI KENAL PELAJAR BAHARU YANG DIADAKAN

SECARA MAYA DI LANGKAWI TOURISM ACADEMY@KOLEJ KOMUNITI LANGKAWI

Penularan wabak COVID-19 yang pernah meletakkan dunia dalam situasi genting sebelum ini
membuka ruang kepada perubahan dalam sistem pendidikan. Banyak aktiviti pelajar yang sebelum
ini dilakukan secara bersemuka telah beralih kepada secara maya. Walaupun sesetengah Institusi
Pengajian Tinggi telah lama mempraktikkan kaedah maya sebagai medium pembelajaran, namun
bagi Langkawi Tourism Academy@Kolej Komuniti Langkawi (LTA@KKLK), kaedah ini masih berada
pada tahap yang baharu. Pelaksanaan Program Hari Suai Kenal Pelajar Baharu secara maya
merupakan suatu cabaran baharu di LTA@KKLK. Pengisian program perlu diubahsuai selari dengan
kaedah pelaksanaannya. Justeru itu, satu kajian deskriptif telah dijalankan bertujuan untuk
mengenalpasti tahap kefahaman pelajar terhadap pelaksanaannya selain untuk mengetahui apakah
halangan-halangan yang dihadapi pelajar sepanjang program berlangsung secara maya. Kajian ini
melibatkan 44 responden terdiri daripada pelajar semester 1 di LTA@KKLK bagi Sesi 1, 2021/2022
dan menggunakan instrumen soal selidik dalam mendapatkan maklum balas. Perisian Statistical
Package for Social Science (SPSS) versi 26.0 digunakan bagi mengira min, frekuensi dan peratusan.
Hasil analisis deskriptif mendapati tahap kefahaman pelajar terhadap Program Hari Suai Kenal
Pelajar Baharu secara maya dapat diinterpretasikan pada tahap yang tinggi di mana jumlah skor min
keseluruhan mencatatkan nilai 3.85 manakala skor min keseluruhan bagi tahap halangan pula
menunjukkan nilai min 2.55 dan diinterpretasi pada tahap yang sederhana. Kesimpulannya,
walaupun pelajar dapat memahami objektif pelaksanaan program tersebut, namun terdapat
beberapa faktor yang harus dikaji semula bagi memastikan semua pihak dapat bekerjasama dalam
memastikan segala halangan yang dialami oleh pelajar dapat diatasi seterusnya memaksimumkan
lagi impak keberkesanan program tersebut kepada pelajar.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ONLINE NEW STUDENT INDUCTION PROGRAMME IN LANGKAWI TOURISM

The spread of the COVID-19 had previously put the world in a critical situation and had opened the
way for changes in the education system. Many student activities that were previously done face-to-
face have shifted to virtual method. Although some Higher Education Institutions have been
practicing virtual methods as a learning medium but this method is still new for Langkawi Tourism
Academy@Kolej Komuniti Langkawi (LTA@KKLK). The implementation of online new student
induction programme is a new challenge at LTA@KKLK. The content of the programme needs to be
modified in line with the implementation method. Therefore, a descriptive study was conducted with
the aim of identifying the level of student understanding of its implementation as well as to find out
what obstacles students faced during the virtual program. This study involved 44 respondents
consisting of semester 1 students at LTA@KKLK for Session 1, 2021/2022 and used a questionnaire
instrument to obtain feedback. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 26.0 software
was used to calculate mean, frequency and percentage. The results of the descriptive analysis found
that the students' level of understanding of online new student induction programme can be
interpreted at a high level where the overall mean score recorded a value of 3.85 while the overall
mean score for the level of obstacles showed a mean value of 2.55 and was interpreted at a
moderate level. In conclusion, although students can understand the objectives of the
implementation of the program, there are several factors that should be reviewed to ensure that all
parties can work together to ensure that all obstacles faced by students can be overcome and to
maximize the positive impact of the program's effectiveness on students.
