LUGSAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
EARTHQUAKE DRILL
NARRATIVE REPORT
Calamities comes unexpected. Nobody can predict when exactly will it happen. No one
can tell to what extent the damaged might be brought by such unpredictable disaster or calamities.
Advance suspension of classes cannot be done before an earthquake comes. So we must all be prepared.
As teachers, when calamities strike in school, our first priority is to ensure the safety of our pupils.
To be able to educate our pupils about things to do when an earthquake strike, the Lugsad
Elementary School located at Lugsad, Calabanga Camarines Sur, performed an earthquake scenario. The
drill aims to help pupils and teachers learn how to react/respond immediately and appropriately during the
actual occurrence.
The teachers of Lugsad Elementary School immediately prepared and instructed thru the
effort of their school head Mrs. Noemi B. Bueza.
Before we did the said earthquake scenario, pupils were oriented about the Do’s and
Don’ts during emergency situation like this such as: don’t run, don’t push, don’t talk, don’t return, don’t
bring your things. Quietly but quickly, proceed to the designated evacuation area for the class and wait for
further instructions from the teacher. Never go back to the building once you are outside. These aims to
develop their awareness, readiness, preparedness, and alertness during the actual scenario. This will help
ensure that there will be no confusion or panic among pupils during an earthquake.
During the drill, pupils performed duck, cover and hold under desks, tables or chairs and
remained in such position until the shocking stop. Then pupils started to evacuate from the room/ building
to the designated evacuation areas. Casualties were reported. Immediate care and action were given to the
said victims.
As they performed the drill, they felt as it happened in reality. The pupils were very
cooperative and attentive before, during and after the said drill.
The pupils successfully returned to their respective rooms as their teacher signals the
termination of the said earthquake drill.
