Research Design

This study employed a Correlational quantitative method to appraise the influence of peer pressure and self efficacy on
choosing career path of GOC grade 12 students seeing that it best serves to answer the questions of this research.

According to Tan (2014) a correlational study aims to investigate the relationship of two or more variable. It examines
whether the variables will or will not affect each other. This also states that the variable is observed without the
researcher controlling or manipulating any of them.

Participants of the Study

This study will use a simple random sampling technique to identify the number of students who will be
answering the survey questionnaire held by the researchers. Our research used the students of Golden Olympus
Colleges grade 12 to serve as the respondents since they were already exposed to the Influence of social media on the
student’s mental stability. Sections 12-Alexander, 12-Maximus, 12-Socrates, 12-Solon, and 12-Ptolemy each section will
include 15 respondents from each strand, resulting in a total of 75 respondents.

The students of Golden Olympus Colleges grade 12 that will answer will surely help our research to get what we
need because they will answer the questionnaire which supplies the information.

Research Instrument

The researchers will conduct a survey via google form as their research instrument to collect and evaluate data for the
study. The survey will also include questions such as the respondent’s name, age, and section. The respondents that will
participate in the survey will be the grade 12 students in Golden Olympus Colleges.

According to Anita Shankar Acharya, et al. (2013), the advantages of using a simple random sampling method are that it
is less time-consuming, external validity is high, and is easier to analyze data.

Data gathering procedure

To acquire the necessary information for finding the relationship between itself-efficacy and peer pressure on car
decisions, the researcher will be gathering information through an online survey via Google forms. The researcher will
seek the consent of every participant for privacy purposes who will be partaking in the survey which is personally
administered by the researcher. The researcher will keep the information obtained confidential once the survey has
been answered, following the initial stage the data will be retrieved, tallied, and subjected to specific areas for
interpretation, it will be severed as the basis for data analysis.

Statistical treatment of Data

In this study, the researchers used the following statistical procedure to be used for interpreting the data gathered from
the respondents of the survey.

1. Percentage Frequency Distribution. The demographic profile variables of the respondents and the 5th problem on
SOP will be analyzed using the Percentage Frequency Distribution with the following formula:

P=FN(100)

Where:

P = F/N Percentage

F = Frequency for each category

N = Total number of respondents

100 = Constant multiplier

2. Weighted Mean. This statistical method will be utilize to compute for the weight of the responses in the questionnaire
assigned by the respondents during the actual data gathering procedure. The formula for the weighted mean is as
follows:

WM=FWN

Where:
WM = Weighted mean

Σ = Summation symbol

F = Frequency for each option

w = Assigned weight

N = Total number of frequencies

Weighted Means/ Equivalent Corresponding Remarks

4.20 - 5 Strongly Agree

3.40 – 4.19 Agree

2.60 – 3.39 Uncertain

1.8 - 259 Disagree

1 – 1.79 Strongly Disagree

Likert Scale. The Likert scale will serve as a guide to the responses from the data-gathering procedure and be interpreted

3. Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient. A nonparametric measure of rank correlation that will be used to test the
relationship between the two variables.

r=Nxy-xy(Nx²-(x)²)(Ny²-(y)²)

Weighted mean Opinion Weight

4.20 - 5 Strongly Agree 5

3.40 – 4.19 Agree 4

2.60 – 3.39 Uncertain 3

1.8 - 259 Disagree 2

1 – 1.79 Strongly Disagree 1

Where:

N = Number of Pairs

𝚺 = Summation symbol

x = score for the first variable

y = score for the second variable
