statement.

CONDITIONAL STATEMENTS

Conditional Statement are those statement where the hypothesis is followed by a

conclusion. It is also known as the “if-then” statement”.
Hypothesis (p) and Conclusion (q)
Conditional statement: if p, then q; formed by interchanging the hypothesis and
the conclusion.
Converse: if q, then p; formed by interchanging the hypothesis and
the conclusion.
Inverse: If not p, then not q; formed by negating both the hypothesis
and the conclusion.
Contrapositive: if not q, then not p; formed by interchangind the hypothesis
and the conclusion and negating it.

Example:
If you are health conscious, then you eat balanced diet.
Solution:
Hypothesis: You are health conscious
Conclusion: You eat balance diet
Converse: If you eat balance diet, then you are health conscious.
Inverse: If you are not heath conscious, then you do not eat balance diet.
Contrapositive: If you do not eat balance diet, then you are not health conscious

Given the conditional statements. Identify the hypothesis and conclusion. Write the converse,
inverse and contrapositive.
1. If you are a careful motorcycle rider, then you wear helmet.

Hypothesis: ____________________________________________________________

Conclusion: ____________________________________________________________

Converse: _____________________________________________________________
Inverse: _____________________________________________________________

Contrapositive: __________________________________________________________

2. If you start good, then you will end well.

Hypothesis: ____________________________________________________________

Conclusion: ____________________________________________________________

Converse: _____________________________________________________________

Inverse: _____________________________________________________________

Contrapositive: __________________________________________________________

3. If two angles have the same measure, then they are congruent.

Hypothesis: ____________________________________________________________

Conclusion: ____________________________________________________________
