Dear Ms. Upshaw:

As a newly graduated nurse, I was pleased to learn of your new grad nursing program over at Tucson
Medical Center. I have heard of the dedication to evidence based practice and excellent standards of
patient care that this hospital provides, and I would love the opportunity to serve as a nurse on your
hospital’s care team. I am flexible and interested in working in many different specialties after having
completed a diverse range of clinical rotations in various hospitals across Tucson Arizona. During these
rotations, I was able to develop my ability to provide care under pressure and work quickly and calmly
within a team environment in order to help the floor run smoothly. Because of this, I believe I will be a
beneficial member of the healthcare team at TMC.

I will be graduating with my BSN degree from The University of Arizona in May 2023. The program that
I am graduating from is rigorous and formative, intent on shaping nurses who are focused on the patient,
mind, body, and soul. During my clinical experience, I personally attended to a toddler with a severe
respiratory illness within the PICU at TMC. I cared for the child throughout the day in order to ease the
fears of his parents, who needed the extra support in a devastatingly trying time.

Leadership is an important skill in nursing- especially in emergency settings. I have experience in

leadership that I could bring to this program. In college, I worked as a peer mentor through the College of
Nursing’s mentor program. Within this role, I academically guided younger nursing students to help
instill a sense of community and support in our organization. I was also the team lead of the art committee
in the community garden. In this role, I led the painting of murals, creation of mosaics, and organized
teams to participate in community-based arts projects within the garden.

I am eager to join in the Nurse Residency program that New Example Hospital advertises, and I believe
that I have the qualities necessary to excel in this role. I am an advocate for evidenced based practice and
