INTRODUCTION

This part should contain the discussion of any or

all of the following:

1. Information about the variables present in the

study

2. Main problem of the study

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The first paragraph includes a statement of the

purpose of the study and expressed in a declarative

sentence. The next paragraph contains the sub-problems

expressed in interrogative sentences.

Future tense is used for proposals while the

present tense is used in the final copy of research

study.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The first paragraph contains the Scope which

delineates how the study will be narrowed or the

boundaries in terms of people involved in the study,

instrumentation, time location or the “who,” “where,”

“when,” and “how” of the study.

The second paragraph identifies the Limitation or

potential weaknesses in the design or constraints of the

study.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

It defines important terms or variables used in the

study. Terms should be defined conceptually or

operationally. Provide an introductory sentence. Terms

should be alphabetically arranged. Acronyms and

abbreviations should be spelled out. For two or more

worded terms, only the first letter of the first word

should be capitalized, unless otherwise indicated.

Sources of constitutive and technical definitions should

be properly acknowledged.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

RESEARCH DESIGN

Identify and describe the method/s of research

utilized in the study. Discuss its appropriateness

Acknowledge source of the methods used, if any.

MATERIALS

Materials include the ingredients and their

formulation. The ingredients must be quantified. Table

of materials should also be shown. It must be labeled,

and the label is above the table itself, single-spaced.

EQUIPMENT

Equipment includes the apparatuses and tools and

must be quantified. Table of equipment should also be

shown. It must be labeled, and the label is above the

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The step-by-step procedures followed in conducting

the study should be explained in complete detail.

Identify time frame for the collection of data. Present

procedures chronologically. You can also add

illustrations, set-ups, or schematic diagrams to better

understand the process. Include a process flow chart as

a summary.

Figure 1. Name of the figure.

Place the figure either immediately after the

paragraph that first mentions (on the same page or the

next) or just before the first mention (but on the same

page). Place the caption below the figure, single-

spaced.

DATA ANALYSIS

Describe briefly how the data collected is to be

processed. List sequentially and provide the formula,

if any, as well as citing the sources and identifying

the sub-problem to which it is used.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

In presenting, analyzing and interpretation of

data:

1. Copy and highlight the sub-problem.

2. Enrich the interpretation by relating findings with

the related literature and studies reviewed.

3. Present only relevant data. Individual scores or

raw scores should not be reported in the text. If

these need to be included at all, they should be

placed in the appendix.

4. The textual presentation should supplement or

expand the content in the tables and charts rather

than duplicate them. Do not expect tables and

figures to do the entire communication for you.

The analysis of data should be objective and

logical. Facts, not opinion, should prevail. Note

all relevant results including those that run

counter to the hypothesis.

5. In reporting statistical test of significance,

include information concerning the obtained

magnitude or value of the test, the degree of

freedom, the probability level and direction of the

effect.

CONCLUSION

In presenting the conclusions: the number of

paragraphs should be equal to the number of sub-problems

and must follow order of their presentation; use brief

but generalized statements derive from the findings;

should not be repetition of the statements anywhere in

the body; and exclude numerical data.

RECOMMENDATION

Presenting the recommendations: measures or

solutions offered should be “doable”, practical, and

attainable; address to persons, agencies or offices

which are in the position to implement them; identify

areas for further research; and should be equal or more

than the number of sub-problems.
