Document Development Exposition: Workplace Correspondence

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
Both the email and the memo barely ran into roadblocks – designing the memo was fairly simple, as I
wanted to separate each distinct subject into its own section, with the exception of the introduction
paragraph. Designing the email was simple as well – I’d basically give a very brief summary of the
entirety of the memo so that the audience has an idea of what it’s about.

First Draft (for peer editing)

Both drafts turned out fairly simple and rarely had challenges. Following the planning for both the
email and memo made writing the first draft very smooth.

Second Draft (for your packet)

While there was little to no peer changes for the email, there was the small suggestion to give
sections and subsections to give their own colors, which became dark green and dark blue
respectively.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

Between the email and memo, the only major change between both documents is the replacing of
subject to participant, as they should be referred to as human. For the memo specifically, the main
change was adding what the subject specifically said about the instructions strengths and
weaknesses.
