I. HIỆN TẠI ĐƠN – PRESENT SIMPLE
Uses (cách sử dụng)
1. We use present simple to talk about habits, things that we do regularly.
Chúng ta dùng thì hiện tại đơn để nói về những thói quen, sự việc mà chúng ta làm thường
xuyên.
E.g: I go to school every day.
2. We use present simple to talk about facts, things that are always or usually true.
Chúng ta dùng thì hiện tại đơn để nói về những sự thật luôn luôn đúng.
E.g:
My parents work in a bank.
The Earth goes round the sun.

Verb with HE/ SHE/ IT (cách chia động từ ở ngôi HE/ SHE/ IT)

II. QUÁ KHỨ ĐƠN – PAST SIMPLE
Uses (cách sử dụng)
We use past simple to talk about things that existed or happened in the past.
Chúng ta dùng thì quá khứ đơn để nói về sự việc đã tồn tại hoặc xảy ra trong quá khứ.
E.g: I was at home last night.
I didn’t have breakfast yesterday morning.
Time expressions (các cụm từ chỉ thời gian ở quá khứ đơn)
- yesterday
- yesterday morning, yesterday afternoon,….
- last night, last week, last month, last year
- five minutes ago, five days ago, five months ago
Form (công thức)
❖ To be: was/ were

❖ Động từ thường:

❖ Quá khứ đơn với there was/ there were

There was / wasn’t + danh từ số ít
There were/ weren’t + danh từ số nhiều
E.g: There were horses on the street 100 years ago.
There was a phone call for you yesterday.

III. TƯƠNG LAI ĐƠN – FUTURE SIMPLE
Uses (cách sử dụng)
We use “will/ won’t” for:
1. on the spot decisions that we make at the moment of speaking
(hành động chúng ta quyết định tại thời điểm nói)
E.g: I’m hungry. I’ll cook something.
2. predictions, usually with the verb “think”, “believe”
(dự đoán về tương lai)
E.g: I think he won’t come to the cinema tonight.
3. offers (lời đề nghị)
E.g: I’ll help you with the washing up.
4. warning and threats (lời cảnh báo)
E.g: Be quiet! Or I’ll tell your mum.
5. promises (lời hứa)
E.g: Mum I won’t do it again, I promise.
6. request (lời yêu cầu)
E.g: Will you help me with my homework?
FORM: (công thức)

+ S (I/ you/ we/ they/ he/ she/ it) + will + Verb nguyên thể
There + will + Verb nguyên thể
- S (I/ you/ we/ they/ he/ she/ it) + won’t + Verb nguyên thể
There + won’t + Verb nguyên thể
