Chapter II- METHODOLOGY

I. RESEARCH DESIGN

A descriptive-correlational design will be used. Descriptive-correlational design is

a design that aims to provide static pictures of situations as well as establish the
relationship between different variables (McBurney & White, 2009).These relationship
between different variables varies from relationships between Psychological, Basic
Nursing Skills (Communication skills/Patient Assessment) and knowledge
readiness to the respondent’s age, gender, and school. The variables parent’s
monthly income and financial readiness will come to exception because it has no
connections to the other variables.

II. RESEARCH LOCALE

This study will be conducted at Saint Mary’s University (SMU) in Bayombong , PLT
College and Aldersgate College in Solano. The rationale behind this choice is that
SMU, PLT and Aldersgate  are the only colleges in Nueva Vizcaya that provide nursing
programs. Also, the aforementioned colleges have already started deploying their
students for clinical exposure after being postponed for 2 years, due to the current
pandemic. Hence, there is a huge opportunity to gain appropriate and necessary data
in the said areas.

III. RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS

The key respondents of the study will be the third year nursing students of Saint
Mary’s University, PLT College, and Aldersgate College since they are the first
batch of students who had undergone online learning for 2 years due to the Covid-19
pandemic and are currently in transition to clinical exposure. Purposive sampling, a
form of non-probability sampling in which researchers rely on their own judgment when
choosing members of the population to participate in their surveys, will be utilized
as the sampling technique of the study.

IV. INSTRUMENT/S

This study will make use of research survey questionnaires as an instrument in

collecting the data needed. It is a researchers- made questionnaire or modified
questionnaire which consists of (how many) parts starting with the consent letter for
the responders, the respondents profile and the questions made or adopted based on
the variables. The validity of the questionnaire will be evaluated by research and
technical experts and the research questionnaires reliability will be checked by
conducting a pilot testing and getting its Cronbach Alpha.

V. DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

Before gathering data, the researchers will secure the approval of the university
research ethics committee (UREC). After which, the researchers will proceed to the
printing of survey questionnaires, as well as the written consent. Together with the
written consent, the researchers will also seek oral consent from the respondents.
Furthermore, the purpose of the study will be explained to the respondents to make
sure that they understand what the survey is for. The researchers will also reassure
that confidentiality will be maintained throughout the study. The respondents were
given 30 minutes to answer the questions provided in the survey questionnaires. The
distribution and retrieval of survey questionnaires would be conducted from___
until___. For the whole duration of conducting the study, the researchers as well as
the respondents will adhere to the restrictions imposed during the pandemic.

VI. TREATMENT OF DATA

After the gathering of data, the researcher will then compile and sort the data using
descriptive statistics, which provides simple summaries about the sample and the
measures. Together with simple graphics analysis, they form the basis of virtually
every quantitative analysis of data (William, 2022).

VII. ETHICAL CONSIDERATION

Prior to conducting the study, the study was evaluated and approved by the Saint
Mary’s University Research Ethics Committee,Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (contact
