The paper and pulp are considered as one the largest industries in the world. The paper

and paper board worldwide are around 390 million tons and experts suggest that it will reach 490

million tons by 2020. (Bajpai, 2014). This massive production of wood papers and paperboards

affects the environment significantly, the irresponsible harvesting of wood from the forest

threatens the species, and ecosystem. The Union of Concerned Scientist (2016) points out that

the 10% of the total deforestation were accounts to the wood production including papers.

With the rise of ecological problem in the modern world, industries and consumers are

finding different ways for alternative things to help to decrease the source of ecological problems

that the world is facing currently. The entrepreneurs of this projects aim to provide an alternative

product that can be a substitute for paper to lessen the environmental threat.

The entrepreneurs come up with utilizing the grass abundancy to create Grass Papers as

an alternative substitute to the normal wood-papers. The products aim to be an alternative

material for different crafts and commercial use. The marketability of the product won’t be a

problem, as the grass papers are rare and unique in the market as of now. People tends to buy and

test things that are unique to their eyes when it comes to design and crafts, that’s why the first

target of the product is to be an alternative for crafts and designs. In short, the entrepreneurs

target the grass papers to be first marketed as envelopes, fragrant papers, paper bags, etc.

Through this, the grass paper can be used by the people who loves to create crafts and design. In

this way, the product can be self-advertised as versatile and durable as the original wood-pulp

papers, this can attract more buyers and investors for Papel de Hierba Verde and help to develop

its reputation as one of the viable alternative products for wood-pulp papers.

 To give our customer new type of medium that they can use when doing their arts.

 To produce a quality eco-friendly product that can serve as an alternative product for

EcoLoko Corporation is a company formed by different entrepreneurs with unique

experience and expertise, aimed to produce an alternative paper for the future of the environment

and the next generation of this world. The Papel de Hierba Verde: Venture to the Future is an

EcoLoko Corporation product made from various grasses in the Philippines. Papel de Hierba

Verde: Venture to the Future is a product and one of the main raw materials that is utilized for

producing various products made from grass paper, such as, Paper bag and Bookmark. The grass

paper of Papel de Hierba Verde is made from different grasses that are carefully picked to

achieve the standard quality of the paper the company are aiming for.

The EcoLoko Corporation is offering various quality grass paper made products that is

under Papel de Hierba Verde: Venture to the Future. The company is also offering free quality

entrepreneurs. The factor below the graphs is based on the priorities of consumers that they

consider when they’re buying papers. The survey was consisted of 30 participants, the

participants of the survey are 15 random people and 15 chosen people.

The table shows that EcoLoko Corporation’s Papel de Hierba Verde is leading in terms of

the factors stated below, the table shows that size is the closest factor for both of the brand. Papel

de Hierba Verde’ grass paper sizes are limited in to three sizes only which are 2”x4”, 8”x10” and

8.5 x 11 on inches. While the Brand X which the competitor’s product have a lot of sizes and not

limited to three. Despite of that, according to one participant, the sizes do matter but the grass

paper’s sizes are perfect for making papercrafts as it is designed that way.

After the survey of the product, this table help the entrepreneurs to identify the problems

of the product and where it mostly performs below average. Entrepreneurs of this product will

definitely improve the product for the consumers.

MARKETING PLAN

A. Products and Services

Sustainable, eco-friendly, and trendy: Grass is increasingly becoming valuable assets and

staple for cardboard packaging and other paper, solid cardboard and packing material products.

Variety of the bottom pulp within the cardboard structure is replaced by processed grass fibers.

Cardboard made of grass waste from compensation areas and nature reserves is very attractive.

Additionally, to the sustainability benefits, grass cardboard scores top marks in terms of

cost efficiency, since the energy and water consumption in grass paper production is

substantially reduced. Besides the assembly, transport and packaging have a comparatively high

environmental impact. Regarding packaging, cardboards and folding boxes are often the fabric of

choice. But even with recycled cardboard, a specific amount of virgin wood fiber continues to be

needed to provide it – which implies that trees need to be felled. Offering 'PAPEL DE HIERBA

VERDE' as an alternative, it has more benefits than normal paper.

EcoLoko Corporation’s Papel de Hierba Verde: Venture to the future Grass Paper will

employ both selective and retailer distribution. Selective distribution allows our company to

cater to the needs of consumers in a narrow geographical area, and it is appropriate for our

company since it aims to retain the quality of our grass paper. It is usually limited to one or two

distributors in a given area. We intended to distribute our items to specific school supply stores

and arts and crafts stores.

And retailer distribution allows EcoLoko Corporation to reach more people who wants to

try our product. The product will be mostly distributed to stores that sells school supplies, to

reach the target consumers like students and school administrators. With the help of these two

distributions, the aim of EcoLoko to reach out the target customers of Paper de Hierba Verde

will be possible.

D. Promotion

The promotion of EcoLoko Corporation’s Papel de Hierba Verde: Venture to the Future

will be mostly social media platforms such as Facebook, Tik-tok, YouTube, and Instagram.

Those platforms are one of the most used platforms that can easily reach thousands of people.

The EcoLoko Corporation will buy ads in those platforms which cost around $ 4.49 USD

or ₱ 229 Pesos for 1 month. The ads will surely help in promotion, but it won’t be enough if we

want to reach our target customer which are mainly students and artist. The EcoLoko

Corporation send some samples to some influencers that have paper crafts related contents, to

give a review. The review helps to boost the product popularity and gain the curiosity of the

target customers.

The EcoLoko Corporation is made up of such dedicated entrepreneurs who will work to

assist the company grow and generate revenue in the future. Every member of the Papel de

Hierba Verde manufacturing department has the necessary competence to run the company.

Where every employee has efficient marketing talents, such as cooperation, supports,

entrepreneurial attitude, and management in all situations.

EcoLoko Corporation is composed of seven (7) competent individuals who’s also the

shareholders of the company. The following individuals with their respective position and

description.

Chief Executive Officer - Mr. Vince Miranda

A prospective entrepreneur with a track record of strong leadership abilities and the ability to

raise the quality of the company. The single most crucial factor in allowing businesspeople to

collaborate effectively is leadership.

She is a student entrepreneur with strong experience in financial management. It may be more

successful in ensuring a company's financial health. Financial management abilities can also be

finance management. Production management in manufacturing activities comprises

responsibilities for product and process design, capacity and quality planning and control, and

personnel organization and supervision. The production manager must also choose the

company's machines and techniques, first deciding on the equipment and technology that will be

utilized in the product or service's manufacturing, and then planning and controlling the methods

and procedures that will be used. The ability of personnel to adjust to equipment and schedules,

as well as the flexibility of the manufacturing process, are critical considerations in this stage of

production management.

Sales Management

The process of employing, training, and motivating salespeople, coordinating activities

across the sales department, and establishing a unified sales plan that increases business revenue

is known as sales management. Any business's lifeblood is sales, and controlling the sales

process is one of the most crucial functions it can have.

primary purpose is to create new ways to generate revenue and customers that are aligned with

the fast-paced speed of technology, as well as to optimize and modernize old marketing tactics.

To be successful as a marketing manager, you must have a creative mind and a commercial

sense. This position requires strong communication skills as well as the ability to lead and

motivate a team.

B. Resources and Production

General

The EcoLoko Corporation operates from 9:00 am to 8:00pm a week with 1 day rest

which equates to 66 per work hours per week. As a small corporation, the work hours is

separated into two main focused which on grass paper production that includes supply canvass

and production for the products that we offer, and on office work that includes, inventory

checking for checking the remaining materials, checking bills for electricity and water,

maintenance for the equipment that are used for the production, and the checking the statistics on

how well the production is going inside the production and how well does the product do in the

market last day.

The Physical Plant

Since the Papel de Hierba Verde: Venture to the Future’s main component for the product

of EcoLoko Corporation is grass. The EcoLoko Corporation’s production area is located near a

farm, a 2-storey building with 400sq meters that has a storage unit and a backyard for harvesting

grass and a drying area for the finished grass paper.

The EcoLoko Corporation business has a physical and online store, the buyers can find or

buy online our product on Shopee and Lazada stores “Papel De Hierba Verde” and for the

physical store it is located at Cabuyao bayan near the Cabuyao Integrated National Highschool.

 Stainless Mallet – The current mallet that is used for production is given for free as the

mallet is not used for a long time, but the current price for stainless mallet is ₱150.00.

The mallet was used for beating the boiled grass to separate the pulp and the fiber of the

grass.

 Blender – The blender that is used for the production cost around ₱ 4,999.00 in retail

price. The blender was used for grinding the grass pulp and fibers into smoother texture

of Papel de Hierba Verde: Venture to the Future.

 Silk Screen – The silk screen cost around ₱ 70.00 for a A4 size. The silk screen is used

for molding the Papel de Hierba Verde: Venture to the Future into the definite size for

market purpose and other products.

components which electricity and water, but the process doesn’t require excessive amount of the

following. The production requires electricity for blending, and boiling grass pulps, but most of

the time the production mostly used wood branch for boiling that comes from the farm that was

not used. As it is only for free, and the branches are anywhere to be found.

The water is utilized the grass pulps are in the beating and molding stage to easily

breakdown the grass pulps into smaller pieces. The process also doesn’t require water to be

switch every hour for a new one. The access from electricity comes from solar and electric lines,

specifically Meralco. As for the water it generally comes from the irrigation water that was near

the farms and water line in the area.

Materials

The materials for the production of Papel de Hierba Verde comes form different supplier,

especially the material that can’t be produce locally. Most of the Materials comes from retail

shops, that includes glue, yarn, sodium carbonate also known as washing soda and the alternative

ingredient sodium bicarbonate or commonly known as baking soda which cost almost the same,

and screen. There is no definite supplier for these materials as the price always change depending

on the economy.

However, one of the advocacies of EcoLoko Corp. is to be as eco-friendly corporation as

much as possible and help the agriculture side of the country. For this reason, EcoLoko have

partnered to farmers/farmland owners to be one of the mian supplier of the main material for

Papel de Hierba Verde, and that is grass. The supply will always come every other month, as the

grass requires maximum of 30 days to be called a fully grown grass, that is enough to be created

as grass paper.

The production of Papel de Hierba Verde is long, the estimated time frame for the grass

paper to be fully made is a maximum of 24 hours (Rinsing the paper is part of it). After the

production process for making Papel de Hierba Verde, it will take 2 days to before it will be

distributed to the partnered stores with our physical stores, as the Papel de Hierba Verde needs to

undergo some test for durability to ensure quality of the product, before distributing it.

Rush orders won’t be a problem for this kind of businesses, as rush orders only happened

when it is in high demand. Papers that are specifically made for arts and crafts are not in the level

of high demand products. But despite of that, the employee of EcoLoko Corporation is ready for

this kind of problem. The EcoLoko Corp will deal with this kind of problem normally. The

EcoLoko Corporation values quality over quantity of the product, as bad feedback from poor

quality product will eventually be the big downfall for any business. The rush orders will only be

source of short-term income and will eventually damages the company’s reputation that can lead

to its closure. as the quality of rush product is always poor.

inventories checking one of it will happen every day and the another will happen weekly; this is

to ensure the materials are sufficiency of the materials for a whole day production. This everyday

Product/Prototype Testing

Papel de Hierba Verde undergo some test before releasing to the public for selling. The

Papel de Hierba is tested into two following factors, the versatility, and the durability. The

testing is made for 3 papers for each batch of production. The versatility is tested through folding

into smaller pieces. The durability is tested through lifting objects, the target weight is to carry

5kg which averages to a weight of a small shih tzu dog.

The EcoLoko Corporation also conducts a survey for testing that product, the EcoLoko

Corporation have chosen 30 respondents to the survey to test the product to get their first

impression and feedback for improvements.

Price Testing

The price of Papel de Hierba Verde is calculated through cost-based pricing. Through the

formula of cost-based pricing, the Papel de Hierba Verde was able to get a price that will help

the EcoLoko Corp. to get return of investment to the investors and owner. The current price of

Papel de Hierba Verde is ₱ 20.00 per 10 pcs pack, the price was close to the arts and craft-based

The cost of these grass papers is 20.2389 per pack. We also want to have a wide range of

equipment. Of However, if there is an unexpected demand for a particular product, we will be

Problem Statement

EcoLoko Corporation have conducted a survey last week in different barangays of

Cabuyao City, Laguna, Philippines. Our research team, specifically assigned for surveying have

gathered 30 respondents from different barangays, the data gathering through survey

questionnaires is conducted through online social media platforms.

After evaluating the answers from the respondents, the survey concluded that there are

two factors from the feed backs that standout the most . The two factors are the texture and the

color of the Papel de Hierba Verde, these two feedbacks make up the 43% or 13 out of 30

respondents have said that it need improvement on texture and color. In 13 feedbacks suggesting

improvements, 38% of them said that it need texture improvement, 31% for those who suggest

for color improvement, and also 31% suggesting it needs both texture and color improvement.

To bring out the best quality of EcoLoko’ Papel de Hierba Verde and to take necessary steps in

response to the valuable feedback of the customers, the EcoLoko have to conduct several

experimentations to Papel de Hierba Verde before fully releasing it the public.

With the recent concluded survey, EcoLoko Corporation have conducted several

experiments in response to the feedback of the respondents. The goal of the experiment is to be

able to serve the needed improvement of the respondents without using any chemicals. After

several attempts, EcoLoko have succeeded to overcome the two factors that standout the most

from the survey.

Here are the few changes and step taken in order to fulfill the need of the customers.

 Texture Improvement

Originally, the beating of the paper grass only takes 3 minutes each phase, the

beating is consisted of 3 phases which makes up to 9mins of beating time to the grass

pulp. The production team have increased the beating time from 3 mins each phase to 7

mins each phase, which takes about 21mins.

The production team also added 8 mins for the blending of grass pulps, which

means it now takes about 10 mins for 1 batch to blend. In addition, the production also

has added more pressure to the grass paper when it is drying to maintain it’s smooth

surface as much as possible.

 Color Improvement

For the color of grass paper, the goal is to refrain using chemicals for dyeing the

paper. The production team have retained the color green for people who likes it. The

production has come up with 3 colors, these are the three primary colors which are red,

yellow, and blue.

To successfully alter the color of the Papel de Hierba Verde, the production team

have used two methods since the color green is hard to alter the color especially the dark

ones. The two methods are dying in coffee beans to make lighter tone and black beans for

greyish tone. Dyeing first the grass paper will make a lighte tone of color after 3 days.

The changes in color of grass paper helps to easily alter it to more colors. The

dyes are made out of flowers that can easily find anywhere, especially in farms. The

production team have decided to use natural dyes as color material to avoid using

chemical that can harm environment, and to be more unique kind of paper.

Value

Upon the changes for the improvement of Papel de Hierba Verde’s texture and color,

EcoLoko corporation is epecting to satisfy the suggestions of the customers. The suggestion

really benefitted the quality as it improves more. The changes can potentially place the Papel de

Hierba Verde as one of the used materials in terms of arts and crafts field, this can increase the

monthly profit of the product. The increase can also be significant when there’s a special

occasions like Christmas and Valentines. if this happened this can increase the annual profit of

the product by 4% to 6% of expected income.

The improvement of the product also comes with potential risk that can affect the

product, one of the factors that might affect is the price changes. Using artificial dyes would be

much cheaper than natural dyes, but using chemical is not our way of product making or

improvements. The dyes use for Papel de Hierba Verde variation can slightly affects the price of

product. The price our product is one of the most iconic for the customers, as it is cheaper than

other some art and crafts materials. The price can slightly increase between ₱ 0.70 pesos to ₱

2.00 as one of the dye materials is pricy and that is black beans.

To deal to with situation and prevent form the product from rising price of ₱ 2.00, we’ve

have conducted some experiment between the normal price black beans and cheap black beans in

the market. This experiment is done while experimenting some color tones. The experiment

results to have same result; this means that cheaper black beans can do a job of a quality black

beans in terms of dyeing.

Final Thoughts and Next Steps

The improvement of the texture and color of the product will significantly help the

quality of the product. Despite of having some setbacks, the team may have overcome, especially

with the price changes. Then new offering such as new variation of color for Papel de Hierba

Verde can significantly help the product positively, especially for the people who are in arts and

crafts field. The survey for product experience is really necessary, now EcoLoko Corporation is

planning to conduct a monthly survey on social media platforms to get relevant feedbacks that

can eventually help for the improvement of Papel de Hierb Verde: Venture to the Future.

EcoLoko Corporation also plans to create and expand more product that are

environmentally friendly, as it advocates for the cleaner production of materials. Especially for

the materials that are common to use.
