HEBAHAN PERTANDINGAN “LEGOLAND” SCHOOL CHALLENGE 2023

Dengan segala hormatnya, perkara di atas adalah dirujuk dan berkaitan.

2. Sukacita dimaklumkan bahawa Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Johor (JPNJ) amat


mengalu-alukan dan tiada halangan untuk guru dan murid terlibat dalam Pertandingan
“Legoland” School Challenge 2023 di Sekolah Rendah dan Sekolah Menengah demi
kemenjadian murid Johor.

3. Program ini terbuka kepada murid sekolah Rendah dan Menengah Negeri Johor.
Guru-guru sekolah boleh melayari website Legoland (www.LEGOLAND.my) untuk maklumat
lanjut tentang program ini.

4. Sehubungan itu, jabatan ini menjemput murid dari sekolah tuan untuk menyertai
program ini. Penyertaan dari pihak tuan amat dihargai dan mampu meningkatkan
kecemerlangan kokurikulum negeri Johor. Bersama-sama ini disertakan lampiran berkaitan
(poster pertandingan) untuk rujukan tuan. Sebarang pertanyaan, sila hubungi Puan Suhaila

CHALLENGE DETAILS

• Registration for LSC 2023 is now open and will remain open from May 2, 2023, to May 19, 2023. Only
entries from registered groups will be considered for judging.

• Registration Link:

• To register, School Groups must submit the following details via form in the registration link:
i. School Name
ii. Country
iii. State
iv. Group Name
v. Total size of the Group (min. of 5 and max. of 15 students)
vi. Number of lead teachers in the group (maximum of 3 teachers)
vii. Mobile Number (student & teacher)
viii. Email (student & teacher)

• There are 2 age categories for participants in the challenge:


i. Aged 7-12
ii. Aged 13-17

• The group criteria for participation are as follows:


iii. Each group must have a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 15 students.
iv. Each group can have a maximum of 3 teachers.
v. All students in a group must be from the same school.

• To participate, groups must adhere to the following requirements:


i. Participants will be given the theme of "Cities of the Future."
ii. Only original LEGO® bricks are allowed for the competition.
iii. The model should be mounted on a board measuring 60 cm x 60 cm (length x breadth), and
the maximum height of the model is 120 cm (1.2 m)
iv. Only entries from registered participant groups will be accepted for the judging process.
v. The judging process for the submitted LEGO model will include the following criteria:
a) Implementation of STEM elements to the design work
b) Creativity based on the chosen theme and category.
c) Only 100% original and unique design entries will be accepted.
*The criteria (i) and (ii) will need to be further explained in the submitted description
• Entries can be submitted from June 19, 2023, 10 AM, and the deadline to submit entries is July 7,
2023, 6 PM Malaysia Time. Entries must include:
i. A description of the LEGO® Model in 50-100 words in English language only
ii. 3-5 pictures of the LEGO® Model showcasing the build from different angles
iii. A video showcasing the final model, with a minimum length of 40 seconds and a maximum
length of 60 seconds
iv. Videos and pictures must be uploaded to the campaign microsite (URL to be shared later).
Please ensure that your video is in MP4 format and does not exceed 1GB in size.
v. Only entries from registered groups in the previous phase will be accepted for judging in this
phase.

• Upon selection of the finalist:


i. The finalist will have to present their LEGO® models physically for public display at Iskandar
Puteri for a minimum of 1 month
ii. The finalist is invited to attend the prize-giving ceremony at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort on
August 3, 2023 (date to be confirmed).
Criteria for Judging and Scoring

Concept Guidance:
Participants are given the theme of LEGO® Cities of the Future.

Guidance to Marks:
The judging process for the submitted LEGO model will include the following criteria:
a) Implementation of STEM elements in the design work.
b) Creativity based on the chosen theme and category.
c) Only original and unique designs are to be submitted.
*Criteria (a) and (b) will need further explanation in the submitted description

The scoring is based on the following:

Presentation
a) The model is aesthetically pleasing.
b) The model includes elements of the chosen theme, category, STEM, and creativity.

Originality
a) The model shows a brilliant demonstration of imagination by the creator.

Ideas Composition
a) The model showcases wonderful ideas of space and structure.
b) The composition is aligned with the chosen theme, category, STEM, and creativity.

Use of Color
a) The model shows a beautiful flow of color and shape.

Piece Story
a) The participant is required to explain their design and the method used to feature the chosen theme,
category, STEM, and creativity elements.
b) The written submission must be in English with a well-woven story.

Prizes
The top 10 winning groups (5 from each age category) will receive the following:
• A LEGO® Trophy
• Iconic LEGO® Sets (1 per group)
• Invitation to attend LEGOLAND for the Prize-Giving Ceremony
• Exclusive workshop with an International LEGO® Model Builder for the grand prize winners
• LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort tickets for all participants
• Certificate of Participation for all participants
• LEGO® Goodies for all participants
• Participation in STEM/English Mania education program in LLMR

Prizes worth RM100k are up for grabs, along with national level recognition for your effort!
Terms and Conditions

• LSC 2023 is open to all students studying in public or international schools from Malaysia, Singapore,
Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
• A minimum of 5 and a maximum of 15 students can participate in a group. All students in a group
must be from the same school.
• Each group must be accompanied by a maximum of 3 teachers.
• There are no limitations on the number of groups per school.
• Two (2) age categories are available: 7-12 years old and 13-17 years old.
• Pre-registration is mandatory for participation in LEGOLAND® School Challenge. Visit
www.LEGOLAND.my to register. Registration opens from 2nd to 19th May 2023.
• Only submissions from registered participant groups will be accepted for the judging process.
• The LEGO® Creations submitted must be built using original LEGO® & DUPLO® Bricks only.
• The model should be mounted on a board with dimensions of 60 cm x 60 cm (length x breadth), and
the maximum height of the model should not exceed 120 cm (1.2 m).
• The judging process for the submitted LEGO model will include the following criteria:
i. Implementation of STEM elements in the design work.
ii. Creativity based on the theme and category chosen.
iii. Only submit design entries that are 100% original and unique.
*The criteria (i) and (ii) will need to be further explained in the description submitted.

• The entry submission phase will begin on 19th June 2023, 10 AM and the last date to submit the
entries is 6 PM Malaysia Time on 7th July 2023.
• Description of the LEGO® Model in 50-100 words, in English language only.
• Pictures of the LEGO® Model (3-5 pictures) to showcase the build from different angles.
• Video showcasing the final model has to be submitted within a minimum of 40 seconds and a
maximum of 60 seconds.
• Videos and pictures have to be uploaded to the campaign microsite (URL to be shared later). Please
ensure that your video is in MP4 format and is not more than 1GB in size.
• The finalist will have to present their LEGO® models physically for a public display at Iskandar Puteri
(location to be confirmed) for a minimum of 1 month.
• The finalist is invited to attend the prize-giving ceremony at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort (1st week of
August’23, date to be confirmed).
• By participating in the LEGOLAND® School Challenge, participants agree to abide by these terms and
conditions and any decisions made.

Disclaimer: The selection of the winner in the LEGOLAND® School Challenge is at the sole discretion of
LEGOLAND® Malaysia and the judges. LEGOLAND® Malaysia and the judges reserve the right to interpret and
apply the competition rules, judging criteria, and guidelines as they deem appropriate. The decision of the
judges is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the judging process or the
outcome.
