KEEPING THE PASSION ALIVE

“Keeping the Passion Alive”, the theme of this year Philippine Association for Teachers
and Educators’ webinar. The webinar happened on February 18, 2023 at Zoom. Sir Narcy Ador
Dionisio is the resource speaker for this webinar. He gave us a fruitful advices and stories from
his experiences as a teacher. He starts with his talk by giving a quotation, “When we begin to
liberate ourselves, our students begin to break their own prison.” That statement made me
realized that Teachers had a vital role in one’s experience. They are with us through our
childhood (kindergarten) to young adult (college). Sir Narcy differentiated Teachers who have
Dating at Galing. He explained Teachers who have Dating is not the same for Teachers who
have Galing. He also differentiated Teachers that are passive to Teachers that are passionate to
his profession. Teacher can change someone’s life, as Sir Narcy tell a story about a young boy
who become a doctor because of his favourite Teacher. This story gave me an insight that
Teacher should not always be close-minded to their students instead, give and take learning from
the student.

Sir Narcy also gives tips on how to control and learn to value ourselves as a teacher. The
profession we take is not easy. As a student teacher, I know and see the struggles of my
cooperating teacher inside the school. Sir Narcy gave research data about how to manage time as
a teacher and an individual person. He said that we should laugh more and feed our mind and
body of positive emotions. Sir Narcy ended his session with his statement, “You learn that
negative feelings such as anger, envy, and resentment must be understood and redirected or they
will suffocate the life out of you, and poison the universe around you.” The next session is about
the experiences of Student Teachers from different Colleges and University in their designated
school during their Field Practicum.

The webinar and the speaker gave justice to their theme “Keeping the Passion Alive”.
The webinar contains a lot of advices and lesson coming from experiences and the reality how
hard it is to be a teacher. Being a passionate teacher can help one’s life and be the best version of
them. Teacher can build confidence and dreams we never imagine we can be today.
