We envision Altavas College to be the center of quality tertiary education in Business, Criminal Justice and Teacher Education that will produce globally competitive graduates.

To achieve our vision, Altavas College shall provide affordable, accessible, and quality tertiary education to Altavasnon and neighboring citizens through excellent and effective Hotel and Restaurant
Management, Office Administration, Criminology and Teacher Education to meet the national and international standards.

Altavas College is highly committed to achieve its Mission by:

1. Exposing students to the recent trends practices in the 21 st century skills in the different respective disciplines and programs.
2. Producing graduates who are responsive and contributive to social, political, economic, cultural and environmental development of the nation.
3. Creating a sustainable culture of continuous development of faculty and staff.
4. Providing state of the art equipment and facilities in all programs.
5. Establishing linkages, networks and connections with national and international personalities and institutions or organizations.
6. Conducting relevant research and extension services for the socio-economic growth of a productive community.

III. PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES:


1. Common to all program is preparing its graduates to achieve, the program educational outcomes are follows:
a. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice ;
b. Effectively communicate orally and in writing;
c. Work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams;
d. Act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibilities;
e. Preserve and promote “Filipino historical and cultural heritage”;

2. Based on CMO No. 30, Series 2006 (Program outcomes of Bachelor of Science Hotel and Restaurant Management)
The program aims to prepare the graduates for a career in Hotel and Restaurant Management. It also aims to equip graduates with the competencies, skills, and knowledge and work values necessary for
hospitality operation. The graduates are expected to have the following competencies:

a. Asses and ascertain students potentials and attitudes to become effective professionals.
b. Applies knowledge’s and skills related to the operation of hospitality industry
c. Provides opportunities for significant exposure in hospitality Industry.
d. Develop Competitiveness amongst students for their professional growth and longevity in the industry
e. Value work ethics as essential factors on personal and professional growth.
f. Engage in lifelong learning and understand the need to keep abreast with development in the fields of practice.
g. Communicate effectively.
h. Work effectively and independently in multi -cultural terms ( PQF level 6 descriptor)

VI. COURSE DESCRIPTION


Concepts, principles, and approaches in the understanding of genders in the Philippine towards an effective gender responsive society. Gender and Society is a three-unit course that ignites awareness to the students’ understanding of
our country’s current problems in Gender inequality, Gender mainstreaming, Gender preferences, and the likes. It equips the students with a broader perspective on their gender roles as they discern stereotypes and discriminations as
dictated by the society. It prepares students to be more gender sensitive in words and in actions as they build a new society filled with gender responsive individuals.

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

1. Discuss the context of sex, sexuality and gender following the Philippine social norms.
2. Identify current gender issues in the country.
3. Analyze gender stereotypes and gender inequalities as experienced on the four levels of socialization: at home, in school, in peer groups, and in mass media.
4. Familiarize with the Philippine Laws concerning sex and gender.
5. Determine action plans to counter abuses or discrimations about gender.

3. Apply gender sensitivity by correcting inappropriate gender expressions

IX. GRADING REQUIREMENTS:


Students’ final grade will be based on the six areas of class grade category, as indicated below:

There are twomajor exams – the Prelim & Midterm, Final will be the demonstration. A missed test and demonstration the grade is a zero. Problems, homework’s and exercises assigned are to be done
completely, neatly and on time according to the more complete instructions given in class at the time of the assignments. Participation will be based on the student’s contribution to class discussions. The class
work and assignments must be kept in a notebook which may be checked periodically. The notebook will serve as a cross check against instructor records.

Examinations. The examinations may consist of multiple choice, true/false, identification, matching type, and essay questions which measure you’re learning for the period. Other types of questions may be
included. The questions will cover the lectures, class discussions, activities, exercises, and textbooks. Students are expected to work individually on the Homework and Individual Exercises. No team work is
allowed on the exams and tests.
X. INSTRUCTOR’S REQUIREMENTS

Quizzes or tests may be given with or without prior notice. There are no make-ups on any homework assignments, tests, quizzes, or the major exams except with a written, valid excuse. Any make-up work
assigned, upon review of valid excuse, is required to be completed within one week from the original date. All students are required to complete each homework, quiz, unit test, and major exams by the
appointed time. No extra time will be allowed.

XI. STUDENT PREPARATION

Students are expected to have all the copy of the lessons, papers, presentations, etc., prepared on the dates indicated, to come to class with the required materials, to take notes, and to pass the
assignments by the dates due. Assignments turned in late will receive one-half grade lower than they would earn if on time.
