GROUP EXERCISES NO.2 (WEEK 3-4)
Division 1 & 2 General Requirements and Site Preparation Works
Materials needed:
Task:
This activity expects you to collect sample site works product brochures/online and select
products your group wishes to apply in your proposed group project. Apply the following site
works materials classification and specification writing skills learned from this course. Finish the
requirement within four (4) hours.
Procedure:
1. Discuss with the group members which part of the house of Mrs. Lita Ibarra will be
made of wood and wood products.
2. Given the problem below, identify and describe the site works, site preparation and
clearing materials needed, quantity of each material, etc.
3. For this exercise No. 2. The group will be given 1 hour to think of a material, tools,
and methods for each category, beginning with the Division 1 & 2 of the uniform
format division.
4. Answer the given activity questions and fill-in the Exercise sheet No 2. This exercise
on specification writing will focus on the first 2 UCI divisions of the given project.
5. The output of this exercise will be useful to complete your final requirement.

Complete the required specifications for the Proposed 1-storey split type rest house. Using the
output of every exercise every week you will be able to prepare the technical specification and
materials finishes specification for the given problem below.
Problem:
Mrs. Lita Ibarra wants to build her 1-story split type rest house in a semi-steep slope area in
Marahan, Davao City. Her budget for the full completion of the house is within the range of 2 –
3.5 million pesos only. Thus, she requested her architect to help her budget the materials
however will not sacrifice the quality and comfort of the project.
To help the owner, discuss with your group mates the best materials that would comply with the
design requirements of the structure. Given the floorplans, elevations, and other drawings,
discuss with your group the needed building materials to complete the structure within the
budget.
The group will work with the following conditions;
1. Floorplans and framing systems of the structure, lighting, and plumbing fixtures are
final.
2. However, the exterior and interior aesthetics may be changed based on the materials
and theme (modern, Mediterranean, contemporary, or cultural design, etc.) suggested
by the group.
3. The budget is within 2-3.5 Million pesos only.

Quality of Work:
➢ DOCUMENTS: The contractor shall obtain all required documents for the construction proposal namely
Construction Permit, Copy of lot title, Deed of Sale, Tax Declaration, Owner’s Building Permit, Lot
Survey, Soil Test Result, Barangay Clearance, Cedula, and LGU Approved Blueprint.
➢ PERMITS: The contractor must acquire all needed permits by the local governing authorities for the
removal and disposal of the demolition materials.
➢ WORK CONDITIONS: The contractor shall inspect the premises to ensure that there are no existing
conditions which will interfere with the job prior to the submission of proposal.
2. Performance Specification
GENERAL:
Contract modification procedures must be debated and agreed upon with the client/approval client's

PRODUCTS:

3. Proprietary Specification
➢ WORK CONDITIONS: The Contractor does not guarantee the correctness of current data on site
operating circumstances.Both the contractor and the owner have agreed to hire a Site Engineer in
Davao City.
Division 2: Sitework
1. Prescriptive Specification
➢ TEMPORARY SHELTER FOR WORKERS: Shelters shall be rented and situated near the existing site
location, without inhibiting permanent housing process.
➢ SITE CLEARING: The Contractor shall remove any elements on the land that may get in the way of the
construction process.
➢ TEMPORARY PERIMETER FENCE: The Contractor shall, in his account, maintain a temporary
perimeter fence at the construction site for the protection, security, and for the proper execution of site
upkeeping.
➢ GRADING: A grading contractor shall ensure a levelled base or specific slope, conforming to the
section as shown on Plans.
➢ EXCAVATION: The excavators shall work on uneven land with debris that can get in the way of
establishing solid foundations and meeting the ultimate goal of the project as reflected on the drawings
indicated.
➢ TERMITE PROOFING: A licensed specialist according to regulations of authorities having control, shall
apply termite control treatment and products in the jurisdiction where the project is located [and who
employs workers trained and approved by manufacturer to install manufacturer's products].
➢ CLEAN UP: Removal of all debris, rubbish, and other materials resulting from demolition operations
from the site at regular intervals and legally dispose of them off-site. On-site storage or sale of
demolished materials to be removed will be prohibited. The site will not allow the burning of removed
materials. Remove, retain, and store any items indicated to be salvaged, reused, or reinstalled on-site in
a protected area undercover. Clean all dust, dirt, and debris caused by demolition operations from
adjacent structures and improvements, as directed by the owner. Prior to the start of demolition work,
restore the remaining adjacent areas to their original state.
➢ JOB SITE LAYOUT AND MEASUREMENT: A Licensed Engineer/Surveyor shall be hired by the
contractor to determine all lines and grades, as well as to field verify existing job conditions and
measurements shown on the drawings. All discrepancies must be brought to the attention of the
Owner's Representative for clarification. There will be no additional compensation paid to the contractor
for any error or negligence on his part, nor for discrepancies between actual conditions found at the
buildings and sites and those indicated in the Contract Documents after the completion of the project.
