Sentence
● Sentence is a group of words that gives or expresses a
complete thought.
● Forming correct sentences is very important and useful in
expressing what you are really trying to say.
● It is very applicable in our everyday life, may it be written or
spoken.

Declarative Sentence
● Declarative sentences are sentences that tell about something.
● They also tell information. They are the most common type of
sentences. They may state facts or opinions, too.
● Declarative sentences always end with a period mark.
Ex: Liza is a pretty girl.

Declarative Sentence
For example, “Our new car is black.”
● The sentence tells us the color of their new car. It ends with a
period just like how a declarative sentence should be.
Another example, “I am a third grade learner.”
● The speaker is in the third grade and is informing us of
his/her present grade level.

Interrogative Sentence
● An Interrogative Sentence is a kind of sentence that asks a
question.
● It usually ends with a question mark (?).
For Example:
What is your name?
-The sentence directly asks a question. It also ends with a question
mark.

● Who is your favorite cartoon character?
● What is your hobby ?
● Where are you going?
Most interrogative sentences start with question words also
known as (WH Questions) like What, When, Where, How, Who, Why,
and Which.

● In speaking or writing, we use the four kinds of sentences that
enable us to express ourselves clearly. These sentences help
you to communicate clearly and effectively, but to do so you
need to know the function of each sentence and use it
correctly.
● Now let’s talk about recognizing an Exclamatory Sentence.

● An Exclamatory sentence is a statement that expresses a
strong feeling or emotion such as joy, anger, fear, and
surprise.
● It can be easily recognized because it ends with an
exclamation point (!).

● A sentence that is used to ask somebody to do something is
called an imperative sentence.
● It is used to give a command, request, instructions, and advice.

Examples:
● Switch off the lights and fans. (Order/command)
● Be nice to old people. (Advice)
● Close the cupboard. (Order/command)
