Examples:

INTERROGATIVE

An interrogative sentence is a sentence


that asks a question and ends with a
question mark. It is an open-ended
question which usually begins with
question words such as who, what, where,
when, etc.
Examples:
Where did I leave my car
keys?
To whom should I give the
test results?
Why was she so grumpy
yesterday?

IMPERATIVE

An imperative sentence expresses a


request or gives a command or
direction.
Examples:
Leave the book under my
doormat.
John, you are not allowed to
play in the street.
Open the door.

EXCLAMATORY

An exclamatory sentence
conveys an emotion and ends
with exclamation mark. (!)
Examples:
We won! (expresses
happiness)
