sentences in writing and speaking.
Different Kinds of Sentences

Sentences can be categorized into


four different types. The different
types of sentences are:
1.Declarative
2.Interrogative
3.Imperative
4.Exclamatory
Declarative Sentences

A declarative sentence makes


a statement. A declarative
sentence ends with a period.
Examples of Declarative Sentences:

- Tomorrow I will go to school.

- Yesterday I left school early.


Interrogative Sentences

An interrogative sentence asks a


question. An interrogative
sentence ends with a question
mark.


Examples of Interrogative Sentences:

- What do you think I should wear to
school today?

- Did you go to school yesterday?

Imperative Sentences

Imperative - An imperative
sentence gives a command.
An imperative sentence ends
with a period.

Examples of Imperative Sentences

- Get my pencil from my desk.

- Leave that book in the library.
Exclamatory Sentences

Exclamatory - An exclamatory
sentence shows strong feeling.
An exclamatory sentence ends
with an exclamation mark.


Examples of Exclamatory Sentences
