one design lane loaded
applying the lever arm rule:
Distance of first line of wheel from the face of curb=0.60m
Distance of second line of wheel from the face of curb=2.40m
Rex moment= 0.96
Multiple presence factor =1.20 (one lane loaded)
Rex moment= 1.16

For two or more design lanes loaded:

Therefore, Rex moment (1) or for half lane loading (i.e. for one line of load)

7) SERVICEABILITY REQUIREMENTS
From flexural members designed with reference to load factor and strength by strength design method, stresses at service
load shall be limited to satisfy the requirments for fatigue and for distribution of reinforcement.
the requirment for control of deflection shall also be checked.

7.1) Fatigue stress limits

As per Art.9.6 the stress range in straight reinforcement resulting from the fatigue load combination , specified in t
able 3-2 , shall not exceed:
ff=145-0.33fmin+55(r/h) (5.5.3.2-1)
where: ff= stress range (Mpa)
fmin= the minimum live load stress resulting from the fatigue load combination specified in
table 3.2, combined with the more severe stress from either the permanent loads or the permanent
loads, shrinkage, and creep induced external loads
r/h=0.30

The spacing of the axles is considered as follows to attain the min. live load stress.

spacing b/n 145 KN and 145KN axles = 9 m

Live Load Deflection
The live load deflection at midspan for different loading conditions similar to the moving load pattern considered in the calc.
of max moment is cal. as follows:

- When Calculating the max. absolute deflection, all design lanes should be loaded, and all supporting componets should be considered to deflect equally
- The deflection calculated shall be the larger of the two
a) the deflection from the design truck only
b) the deflection from 25% of the design truck together with the design lane load
- The live load combination shall be Service I including the dynamic load allowance,IM
