1.a. What are the lived-experiences of the IP teachers?

Indigenous People teachers also have our own narrative in life and in teaching
learning process of the learners. Honestly, even if we’ve experienced racial
discrimination during our childhood, we positively accepted those because we never
had a choice but to continue what we have started. Now that we are in this institution,
as teachers we experienced a lot of challenges in many aspects specially in teaching
learning process. The demand of learning nowadays is very high. So, to equipped
ourselves with knowledge, many of us enrolled in Master’s Degree because we believe
that further studies will really help in boosting our minds so that we can also share it
with the learners specially those our KA TRIBU learners, and because you are an IP
teacher you must be a good speaker in your dialect for you to be more connected with
them.

1.2. a How does the lived-experiences did you find its effective in teaching learning
process of IP learners?

Now, as an IP teacher, I used these experiences to motivate my IP learners to

really give importance in their studies. The knowledge that I’ve learned really helped
during teaching learning process because your desire and eagerness to teach and share
your knowledge are higher than ever. Finishing MA also opened many opportunities like
you will be invited in different seminars and trainings and eve anchoring Radio Based
Instruction that are intended for the IP teachers. This is for us to be more effective
teacher in teaching learning process of the IP learners.

1.2.b. How does the lived- experiences did you implement/applied in order to make
effective learning processes?
Those given chances to IP teachers of being invited with different trainings and
seminars must be applied or implemented so that our IP learners will also be benefited
the knowledge acquired during their seminars and trainings. In fact, many of the IP
schools nowadays were enjoying those benefits like learning to read and write their own
dialect, playing with traditional IP games, and also executing their own IP dance steps.

2.a. What are the struggles of the IP teachers in delivering teaching learning process to
IP learners?
There are many struggles encountered by the IP teachers like they are not a
good speaker of their own dialect, that’s why they couldn’t also deliver the lesson well.
But we cannot blame them because the parents themselves did not teach their kids on
how to speak their dialect even at their home. Another is the culture, nowadays we
cannot deny the fact that the new generations have already evolved because they lived
in a community with diverse culture. So, they are exposed to sociocultural differences
which may lead to the extinction of their own culture that may also defeat the purpose
of DEPED to bring back and preserve the culture/s of the IP.

2.2.b. Which of these struggles did you find it difficult to handle?

Cultural differences are more difficult to handle because of their exposure to

another culture in their community. The influence of other culture in that community is
really challenging for the teachers to handle because they use to live in that particular
place for many years or even since birth.

3.a. How does these experiences and struggles of an IP teacher, help them to manage
and deliver quality learning process to the learners?
Teacher are not super humans, but their experiences and struggles may help
them in delivering and managing quality learning process to the learners because they
are well equipped with knowledge. They are professionally ready to face all those
challenges that they may encounter in their teaching career.
3.b. What are your best recommendations to teachers teaching IP learners?
Teachers are not perfect, but we just have to embrace love our profession. As an IP
teacher, we must have first; Equipped ourselves with appropriate knowledge. Don’t stop
learning, and grab every opportunity that may come like seminars, trainings and even
enrolling in MA, EDD, Ph.D or even higher than these because these can help you not
only for promotions but also for your profession growth and development.
Second, we have an extended patience for IP learners not only because they are
your “KA TRIBU” but also you know the culture that you are sharing. Note that many of
them are sensitive in many aspects. Let them learn to keep going whatever struggles in
life they may encounter along the way.
Finally, You may also use yourself as a lived example of an IP that persevered and
succeeded in life and that may also happen to them in the near future.
