3. Host: Good day grade 11 students welcome to another day full of learning here at our

daily educational radio.

4. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

5. Host: This is teacher Joselito Bolgado your teacher on the air and I am your teacher at

General Mathematics are you all ready to learn?

6. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

7. Host: and now please get your module (PAUSED)for today’s lesson “Evaluating

Function” Do you have it?...Great!

8. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 5secs

9. Host: last episode was about functions. What do you know about function?

10. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 5secs

11. Host: right.. a function is a relation or rule of correspondence between two elements,

domain and range such that element in the domain corresponds in one exactly domain

12. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

13. Host: today we are going to evaluate functions. Let me remind you that we do not solve

functions. Rather a function expresses a relationship between two variable such as x

and y and can be represented by a table of values and graph, but before we proceed to

proper you are going to answer what I know on page 1 of your module. Please use

another sheet of paper for your answers, I will give you five minutes to do that and while

listening to this music entitled Solve me maybe (Math Lyrics) by 38mrjohnson

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVMqipNCnLg

14. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR THREE MINUTES

15. Host: times up let’s find out if your answers are correct. Number one letter A, number

two letter D, number three letter C, number four B, number five letter A, number six

letter D, number seven letter B, number eight letter D, number nine letter A, and lastly

number ten letter B.

16. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

17. Host: amazing if you got a perfect answer you have the option to skip this lesson but if

not let’s move on and continue learning.

18. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

19. Host: now let’s go ahead to page three of your module. Finding the value of x for most of

you is what mathematics all about, for others it becomes a joke to evaluate an

expression like what is shown by the illustration if you want to learn how to find the value

of y then this is the right page for you.

20. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

21. Host: before we continue please take a minute to listen to this few reminders

22. BIZ: REMINDERS

RADIO BASED INSTRUCTION

23. HELLO YOU’RE STILL LISTENING TO ANOTHER FUN-FILLED LEARNING EPISODE

OF DAILY EDUCATIONAL RADIO. BROUGHT YOU BY DEPED IRIGA CITY. DO YOU

KNOW THAT AS OF THIS MOMENT OUR IS STILL FIGHTING FOR THE WORLD’S

GREATEST ENEMY THE COVID 19 ARE KNOWN BY MANY AS CORONA VIRUS

THAT IS WHY REMOTE TEACHING AND LEARNING IS BEING INTRODUCED BY

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO CONTINUE ITS LEGACY.

24. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

25. Host: We have learned that algebraic letters can stand for numbers and to find that value

of the expression there are two things that you have to do. Please check page four

problem number one. Replace each letter in the expression with the assigned value first

replace each letter in the expression with the value that has been assigned to it. To

make your calculations clear and avoid mistakes always enclose the numbers you are

substituting inside parenthesis. In the example the value of x is three thus the three is

enclosed in a parenthesis the value that is given to a variable stays the same

throughout the entire problem even if the letter occurs more than once in the expression.

However since variables vary the value assigned to a particular variable can change

from problem to problem just now within a single problem

26. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

27. Host: second perform the operations in the expression using the correct order of

operations once you have substituted the value for each letter do the operation to find

the value of the expression, don’t forget to use the correct order of operations first do

any operations involving exponents then do multiplication and division and finally do

addition and substraction

28. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

29. Host: before we go on check page five for the list of type of functions. It’s description

and examples that you may encounter later. I will give you five minutes to study.

30. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 5MINUTES

31. Host: now you know that there are various types of functions, now what do mean by

evaluating function?

32. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

33. Host: Yes! It is the process of determining the value of the function and a number

assigned to a given variable just like evaluating algebraic expression you just need to

replace each letter in the expression with the assigned value and perform the operations

in the expression using the correct order of operations.

34. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

35. Host: now lets take a look at example number one on page seven. Given f of x equals

two x minus four find the value of the function if x equals three. Solution substitute three

for x in the function, now it becomes f of three equals two times three minus four, now

simplify the expression on the right side of the equation, the answer is f of three equals

2.

36. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3secs

37. Host: now it’s time study other examples found in page seven to ten. I will give you five

minutes to study then. Enjoy!

38. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 5MINUTES

39. Host: time’s up now it’s your turn to answer what’s more. See page 10, please use

another sheet of paper so you can show your solutions. I will give you ten minutes to

answer. I will give another music listen up, entitled Dying inside (Math Parody) by Balce

from youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVMqipNCnLg

40. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 10minutes

41. Host: hey! How was the test so far, if you think you’re doing good then let’s go on, if you

think you’re not, you can still check your answers, and the answer is provided. Don’t you

worry you can still do better in the assessment.

another sheet of paper and turn to page fifteen. I will give you three minutes to finish the

assessment.

58. BIZ: MUSIC UP FOR 3minutes

59. Host: time’s up! If you are confident with your answers then you may go ahead to the

assessment part on page fifteen. If not you can still check the answers right away

answer queries are provided in the last part of your module if still have time you can

answer additional activities on page seventeen for practice.
