1. PURPOSE
The purpose is to measure Very Low Frequency Test and Off-Line is established to check the healthiness
of the 33kV cable.

This document describes the method VLF Testing.

2. SCOPE
The scope of work covers the VLF testing of 33kV cables.

7. RESOURCES
 Project Manager-
 TESTING ENGINEER- WinStar
 Safety Officer-
 Electrician/Technician- WinStar

8. RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Project Manager shall be responsible for the overall implementation and management of the
subjected works.
2. Testing Engineer is responsible for daily site work coordination and daily tasks to be undertaken.
3. Electrician Coordinate with the site engineer for the task given for the daily activities on site.
Responsible for the execution of the job properly as per the standard. Follow the procedures and
controls in the MS & Risk Assessment
4. The Safety and Health Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and ensuring that all safety
precautions are being followed by the respective engineers, supervisory staff, in addition ensure that
the supervisory staff have confirmed checked that all personnel have undergone any necessary
induction trainings and that all personnel are equipped with (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment.
The Safety Supervisor shall periodically inspect all works ensuring adequate signage and permits are
in place. The Safety Supervisor shall conduct inspections as and where necessary to ensure plant
equipment is in full compliance with the project’s requirements.

9. METHODOLOGY/PROCEDURE OF ACTIVITIES
9.1. VLF Testing

 Disconnect the cable from both sides and keep the clearance for high voltage.

 Apply 5kV DC with respect to earth and all other phases shorted and earth.

 Record the value in test report.

 Apply 33kV rms voltage and 48kV peak for 30 min and record the leakage current at 0min, 5
min,10min,15min,20min,25min & 30min.

 Discharge the cable.

 Again, apply the 5kV D.C for 1 min and record the value after VLF Testing.
