SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study aims to determine the readiness of Sipalay City Secondary Schools in times of

the disasters, just like the fire, earthquakes, typhoon, and floods. This addresses the school

manangement and personnel to be trained on how to respond in the different types of

disaster situations in order to educate and trained the students and also to provide a safety

gadgets in times of disasters. It also aims to provide a safety plans for immediate action in

times of emergencies. The findings of this study is beneficial to the followings:

Students - are the main beneficiary of this study. They spend their 8 hours a day for five

days inside the school premises. It also give additional awareness on what safety facilities

can be used by the students during the training and in times of emergencies that may occur

inside the school campus.

Parents - to give assurance to the parents that their child / children are safe inside the

school campus. This study also benefits them to have a additional awareness incase of

emergencies.

School Personnel - this study will be conducted not only for the old school personnel but

also to those who are newly hired for them to be able to recognized the different safety

facilities in school facilities. They are provided with trainings and filed experiences to be

equipped and knowledgeable in times of emergencies like earthquakes, typhoons and etc.

School Management - after the evaluation the School Management will be provided a

copy of the assessment so that they can have a reference on what they are lacking in their

school, that needed to be applied, improved and filled by the government with the

necessary trainings to be equipped incase of emergency and calamity.

Community - this study can help in evaluating not only in the school safety program but

also in the community and to those individuals who participated during the safety drills

conducted in the school.

Researcher - will be able to help in the assessment for the school disaster preparedness

and able to give inform the concerned agencies to give information on where they are

lacking in the school environment in terms of safety drills.

AGE - is usually considered objectively, such as in terms of chronological age.
