Detector Adjust
As the main liquid circuit control component of the electrolyte analyzer, there will be a different detector voltage
when liquid flows through the detector and when it does not. Use this function when the detector needs to be
tested or has been repaired or replaced.

• Select “DETECT ADJUST” and press “TRY AGAIN” the electrolyte analyzer will automatically start testing
the detector voltage.
• Observe the test results to check whether the voltage difference exceeds 300mV during testing. Do not
use the electrolyte analyzer unless the difference between the detector voltage without liquid (V1) and the
detector voltage with liquid (V2) exceeds 300mV (V1-V2>300mV). If the voltage difference does not
exceed 300mV, repair or replace the detector (as described in Section 5.4). If it fails, input the four Fluidic
Line adjustment parameters manually (as described in Section 4.1.3) for temporary use of the electrolyte
analyzer.
• The AVG value appearing on the screen indicates the previous test result, namely the average of the
previous results of V1 and V2.
• If the voltage difference exceeds 300mV, press “SAVE” before exiting.

Fluidic Line Adjustment (Pipe Adjust)

The stepping motor steps the main control units in the liquid circuit depending on the Fluidic Line parameters. You
can set the Fluidic Line parameters to control the liquid’s stay and movement in the liquid circuit as required. Below
is the liquid circuit diagram:

To make parameter adjustments go to the menu “OTHERS” select “ADVANCED SETUP” (User Password

• Setup of the four parameters

1. The parameter “Valve to Detector” will be automatically tested, which are typically about 1800 steps.
2. The parameter “Auto Probe to Detector” will be automatically tested, which is typically about 1100 steps,
but you need to put a sample cup full of liquid at the cup position QC2 (or at the cup position QC of any
model with Biochemical test-tube).
3. The parameter “Detector to Electrode” indicates the steps from the detector to the electrode, which are
typically about 700 steps (manual input).
4. The parameter “Manual Probe to Detector” is applicable for the manual analyzer without the sample tray,
which is typically about 1000 steps (manual input).
• Adjust these parameters to make sure the liquid stays accurately at the electrode position.
• The detector is the main liquid circuit control component of the electrolyte analyzer, but it is not an
indispensable component. In actual applications, if the detector has a fault or if the voltage difference does
not exceed 300mV, the detector cannot be used. You can still continue to use the electrolyte analyzer normally
as long as you input the four Fluidic Line adjustment parameters correctly and make sure to set “Detector
Enabled” in the “Advanced Settings” menu to “No”.
• Generally speaking, if the pump tubing is used for a long time without this function, the electrolyte analyzer
will still work properly if you modify the above four parameters accordingly.

Pumping A 10 ts
This function is used to pump Solution A from the Reagent Pack into the fluidic lines of the electrolyte analyzer.
Use this function to test the peristaltic pump, check the fluidic lines of the analyzer and to check the Reagent Pack
to make sure there is solution in the pack. It can also be used to check and correct liquid path errors.

Pumping B 10 ts
This function is used to pump Solution B from the Reagent Pack into the fluidic lines of the electrolyte analyzer.
Use this function to test the peristaltic pump, check the fluidic lines of the analyzer and to check the Reagent Pack
to make sure there is solution in the pack. It can also be used to check and correct liquid path errors.

Scanner Adjust
The barcode scanner is applicable to the electrolyte analyzer with Biochemical test-tubes. Equipped with a
barcode scanner, the electrolyte analyzer will make an auto scanning sound when turned on. Currently the
barcode scanner can scan barcodes composed of up to 18 numbers. No barcode composed of over 18 numbers
will be scanned. The barcode scanner is divided into two kinds of facilities, either an internal or external scanner.
The internal barcode scanner is only available on the analyzer with sample tray that has the Biochemical test-
tubes as pictured below.

analyzer shooting at the barcode on the Biochemical test-tube at the zero cup position of the sample tray in each
test. Adhere the bar-code sticker on the middle lower part of the test-tube. At least one side of each test-tube
should have a sticker to prevent any scanning failures due to excessive transparency. For an easier barcode
scanning, place the test-tube with the barcode side facing outward. The barcode scanning position is the zero cup
cup position, namely where the sample probe position is. If any test-tubes with barcodes cannot be scanned at

• 000, 001, 002, 003, 004 is the test value at the start of testing. The other 4 values will refresh every second.
At the beginning, the variance will be a little high, because the liquid needs several seconds to stop moving in
the liquid circuit.
• You will find that the new values for each electrode are nearly the same. Every minute it will change 0.1 or
0.2 per electrode. If the value is not stable or gives negative value, you will need to follow the steps below to
check the analyzer and the electrodes.

• Check electrodes and electrode liquid circuit. The electrodes liquid circuit should be full of calibration solution
with no air bubbles. Check and clean each electrode connector and measuring chamber connector with a dry

• Check the Electrode internal ISE solution volume. The Inner electrode must be immersed into internal ISE
solution. If not you will get “Electrode Instability” errors and you will not be able to calibrate or run samples.
You will need to add or replace the internal ISE solution so that the electrode is immersed into the solution.
The ISE solution should fill only about 2/3-3/4 of the electrode cavity (do not fill completely). The small bottle
of internal ISE solution is used for K, Na, Ca, pH, Li and Cl electrodes. The big bottle of internal reference
solution is used for the Reference electrode. DO NOT add the wrong solution in any of the electrodes. This
will affect test results. If you mistakenly fill the wrong solution in any of the electrodes, you will need to drain
electrode of internal ISE solution or reference solution, flush the electrode with DI water and add the correct
solution.
• After removing any air bubbles, run the “MV Stability Test” again. If the values are good, run calibration again
and make sure the electrode liquid circuit has no air bubbles.

Auto-Tray Test

cup position 2, about two and a half cups away from the sample probe. From the menu “FACTORY
MAINTENANCE” select “ADVANCED SETTINGS” and set “Biochemical tube pushing step” to 190~210
(typically 205), for the purpose that the sample probe is inserted directly in the center of the cup.

Enter the menu “FACTORY MAINTENANCE” and select “LEVEL DETECTOR” to do liquid level detection. The
following screen will be displayed.

• Fill three different test-tubes respectively 1/3 full, 1/2 full and 100% full with DI water, place them respectively
at the cup position 6, 7 and 8, and detect the liquid level for them one by one.
• “Detect Once” means doing one liquid level detection and knowing whether the detection is successful
immediately.
• “Detect 100 Times" means doing 100 consecutive liquid level detections at a longer time and calculating the
percentages of successful and unsuccessful detections.

The liquid level detector’s maximum stroke is only about 70% (4300 steps) of its total stroke to protect the sample
probe against damage and prevent incorrect detection in case of insufficient liquid. Any single detection taking
4300 steps is an unsuccessful detection. In consecutive detections, if the difference between the detection position
position of any detection and the average detection position exceeds 100 steps (about 2mm), the consecutive
detections will be considered unsuccessful.

Do not allow your hands to contact the sample probe during detection, or the
detection will fail.

• The parameter “Step of under surface” is usually set at 200, indicating the steps to enter the liquid level after
touching the liquid level.

LSD Board (located behind the sample probe)

• Mode 1 - I/O Method

A red DIP switch on LSD board is used in I/O method. DIP1 should be switched to the ‘OFF’ position and DIP2
should be switched to the ‘ON’ position when instrument leaves the factory, which means the ‘sensitive’ position.

If the Level Detector function in Factory Maintenance menu does not work, you need is to reset the LSD board:

How to Reset LSD Board

1. Keep the analyzer power on.
2. Keep the DIP1 switch in the ‘OFF’ position, and the DIP2 switch in the ‘ON’ position.
3. Keep the probe away from liquid.
4. Press the reset button at least 3 seconds, power off the analyzer, then release the reset button.
5. Turn on the analyzer and test the Level Detector again.

If it still does not work well, you should adjust the DIP positions to increase or decrease the sensitivity of detection.

How to Adjust the DIP Switch Positions

1. DIP1 to ‘ON’, DIP2 to ‘ON’, poorest sensitivity position
2. DIP1 to ‘ON’, DIP2 to ‘OFF’, poorer sensitivity position
3. DIP1 to ‘OFF’, DIP2 to ‘ON’, sensitive position

4. DIP1 on ‘OFF’, DIP2 to ‘OFF’, very sensitive position

It is called ‘over sensitive’ if the probe stops moving before touching the liquid surface, in this case, you should
decrease the sensitivity. Conversely, it is called ‘poor sensitivity’ if the probe still moves after touching the liquid
surface. In this case, you should increase the sensitivity.

You do not need to reset or power off the instrument when adjusting the DIP switch
settings, if all four setups do not work, please use the Mode 2

• Mode 2 - Frequency Method

If you choose this mode, go to “FACTORY MAINTENANCE” select “LEVEL DETECTOR” and modify ‘Sensibility
Adjust’. It should be setup between 3~5, you can adjust it by using the green left or right arrows, the frequency
value will display at the same line, the normal value is between 1000~2500.

To decrease sensitivity, press the right arrow button to increase this parameter, otherwise, to increase sensitivity;
press the left arrow button to decrease this parameter. After adjusting use ‘Detect Once’ or ‘Detect 100 times’
to verify if the LSD works well.

ISE Calibration Failure

A successful calibration is the basis for the system to test samples. Enter the menu “SETTINGS” and select
“CALIBRATION FREQUENCY”. This is to set the Calibration Frequency, so that the system will auto perform a
Two-Point Calibration after several samples have been tested. “System Calibration” is also called “ISE Calibration”
or “Two-Point Calibration”, which is performed in this sequence: A1, B1, A2, B2, S, X.

A1 represents the first voltage of Calibration A. B1 represents the first voltage of Calibration B. They are not used
to calculate the slope. A2 and B2, are used to calculate the slope S. The analyzer will then absorb some
Calibration A again to measure the voltage and calculate the concentration X based on the slope S. If the
concentrations of K, Na, and Cl are all close to the target values and the slopes of Ca, pH, Li and Mg all fall within
the effective value range, the LCD screen will read “Calibration PASSED!”. Otherwise, the LCD screen will read
“Calibration Failed!” and ask you whether to recalibrate or not. After successful calibration, please absorb some
Calibration A again to the electrode position for the purpose of stabilizing the electrodes.

Below are their effective value ranges:

CAL A/B Slope Range

K mV 20 – 100 20 - 70
Na mV 20 – 100 20 - 70
Cl mV 20 – 100 20 - 70
Ca mV 20 – 100 5 – 50
Li mV 20 – 100 20 - 70
Mg mV 20 – 100 5 – 50
pH mV 40 -140 20 - 70

Difference between A1 and A2/B1 and B2:

• less than .5mV

Difference between A1 and B1/A2 and B2:

• K : 16 – 20 mV • Na : 5.5 – 7.5 mV • Cl : 8 -10 mV
• Ca : 10 – 12 mV • pH : 30 -36 mV

If the calibration is successful, the electrolyte analyzer will save the values for A2, B2 and S. To check or print the
the values of A, B and S from the previous successful calibration enter the menu “OTHERS” and select
“CALIBRATION DATA”. If calibration fails, it will not save these values. If the calibration is unsuccessful, the
failure is typically caused by instable electrodes, which can show abnormal values during calibration. The

abnormal values can be divided into two kinds values (Zero Values and Minus Values) displayed in following
pictures.

Zero Values

Minus Values

There are two types of electrodes: ISE electrodes and a Reference electrode. If there is any ISE instability, it will
affect the measurement accuracy of several parameters. If the reference electrode is instable, it will affect all
parameters. If any of the electrodes are instable, check the specific electrode(s). Preform the following operations
to judge and correct any electrode instability.

Checking the Electrodes

• If the hole at the upper right corner of the Reference electrode is blocked by salt crystallization: please poke
the hole with the needle tip or replace the cover.
• If there are air bubbles in the electrode cavity: flick the bottom of electrode to remove any air bubbles.

• If there is not enough ISE Solution in the electrode to contact the silver probe: fill the electrode (2/3 to 3/4 of
electrode cavity, do not overfill) with more ISE Solution.
• If there is too much ISE Solution in the electrode so that the liquid level is above the 2/3 - 3/4 level of the
electrode cavity. Dump the ISE solution and refill.
• If the coating of the silver probe in the Reference electrode comes off or becomes white: please replace the
silver probe or replace the Reference electrode.
• The most common cause for instable electrodes is that the grounding cable is not connected: check the ground
cable.
• Check whether the gilded contact of the electrode contacts the signal socket in the electrode measuring
chamber, clean with a dry cloth if necessary.
• The voltage is unstable: use a UPS or good-quality regulated power supply (a poor-quality regulated power
supply usually causes an electrode instability).
• Avoid any electromagnetic interference, use an independent power supply and keep the electrolyte analyzer
away from any large-power equipment.
• If each electrode has an instability, please check if the Reference electrode has expired or if the Reference
electrode has any air bubbles. Flick the bottom of the Reference electrode to remove any air bubbles. Replace
the Reference Electrode if it has expired.
• If the calibration value of each electrode approximates to 200, the part of the Reference electrode which
contacts the test liquid has air bubbles (imperceptible small bubbles). Please take out the reference electrode
and flick the bottom (below the silver probe) of the Reference electrode with your finger repeatedly.
• The reagent has expired or has been polluted: check if the standard liquid A and B contain any flocculent
objects.
• When the electrode is washed with deproteinized solution or the electrolyte analyzer has not been calibrated
for some time, the first automatic calibration tends to be out of control. Please do a 1 or 2 hour electrode
activation prior to the calibration.

If the tubing is blocked, use a syringe (with needle removed) full of DI water and connect the tube which
connects the electrode measuring chamber and peristaltic pump. Place a waste cup under the sample probe
and push and pull syringe to try to clean the liquid circuit.

• Electrode Blockage
If the electrode is blocked inside, use deproteinization solution to clean the electrode liquid circuit. If the
electrode is completely blocked, take out the electrode and try to use an Aurilave to remove the blockage. DO
NOT use a probe to clean electrode or the electrode liquid circuit.

Aurilave

• Tubing Connector Blockage

After continued use of the analyzer, protein can stick around tube connectors. Remove the tube(s) and wash
it with DI water. There is a metal block in the measuring chamber on left side of K electrode. If it is blocked,
you can use syringe to clear it. If the injection port has blockage, open and clean the blockage.

• Distribution Valve Blockage

You can do a manual calibration. During calibration procedure, the distribution valve will select Calibration A
or B. When the distribution valve opens toward to the tube, turn off the analyzer. Connect a syringe with tube
(not needle) full of DI water with tube to calibration A or B port. Remove injection port tube and put it into
waste cup. Push and pull syringe to try to remove any distribution valve blockage. If syringe cannot remove
blockage, disassemble the distribution valve and use a probe to clean the blockage.

Liquid Path
In this part, the liquid path error and insufficient calibration solution A and B will be discussed. Liquid path errors
are caused by its failure to absorb liquid, liquid circuit is not closed, or air bubbles are in the tubing. The “liquid
path error” message will show up only if the volume of both solution A and solution B are more than 10%.

Liquid Path Error

• Check the Reagent Pack
Enter “OTHERS” and select “ADVANCED SETUP”, enter “600901” in “FACTORY PASSWORD”, click “OK”
when it says “Settings have taken effect”. Then enter “123456” in “USER PASSWORD”, after that, you will see
the percentage of volume left for both solution A and solution B. If any of these two is less than 10%, it means
the solution has been used up and the reagent pack needs replacing since no liquid can be absorbed. If both
of these two are more than 10%, it means there is somewhere blocked and needs to be checked.

Enter the menu “FACTORY MAINTENANCE” and select “VOLUME SETTINGS” to check the used volume of
each reagent. If the used volume of Calibration A, Calibration B respectively near 430mL, 70mL and 70mL
(ex-factory volume), that means the relevant Reagent Pack will be used up soon and needs replacing. You
can also enter the menu “FACTORY SETTINGS” and select “ADVANCED SETTINGS” to check the RF
available uses of the reagent pack. If there are less than 100 available uses, this means the solutions in the
Reagent Pack have been used up and the Reagent Pack needs replacing since no liquid can be absorbed.

• Check for Tubing Leakage

From the menu “FACTORY MAINTENANCE” select “VOLUME SETTINGS” and press “Solution A” or
“Solution B” to check the liquid absorption condition. Or you can use the menu “ADVANCED SETTINGS”
and use “Pumping A 10 ts” and “Pumping B 10 ts” to check the liquid absorption condition. If there are air
bubbles flowing through the tubing or no liquid can be absorbed, typically this means there is leakage in the
tubing and you will have to check the following parts in sequence:

Solution B
Solution A

Distribution Valve (A, B)

Remove the tube that outputs the reagent solution of Calibration A and Calibration B from the front of the
distribution valve; insert it into a small container filled with DI water, and enable “Pumping A 10 ts” and “Pumping
B 10 ts”. If no liquid can be absorbed through the sample probe, it means the liquid circuit section A, B, C, D, or
E has a fault. If the liquid can be absorbed, that means the liquid circuit section G or F has a fault.

If the liquid circuit section A, B, C, D, or E has a fault, check the section D and E first with the same method as
above: remove the tube at the left of the electrode measuring chamber. Replace it with a tube that is inserted into
into a small container with DI water, and enable “Pumping A 10 ts” and “Pumping B 10 ts”. If the liquid can be
absorbed, that means the liquid circuit section A, B or C has a fault. If no liquid can be absorbed, that means the
liquid circuit section D or E has a fault or the electrodes are not properly installed or tightened.

If the liquid circuit sections A, B or C has a fault, remove the tube on the top of sample probe insert into container
with DI water and enable “Pumping A 10 ts” and “Pumping B 10 ts” from the “ADVANCED SETUP” menu, to
decide if section C has a fault. If not, check whether the sample probe is fully inserted into the base and there is
not any air leakage. Turn off the electrolyte analyzer to check whether the liquid circuit section under the sample
probe dial has a good connection.

If any leakage, disconnect the tube and then reconnect to make sure it is securely connected. If there is blockage
at the end of the tube near the connector, cut off the end of the tube with scissors and reconnect. If the tube is
blocked anywhere else (e.g. the middle of the tube), attempt to run deproteinization to see if it clears, attempt to
flush with a syringe full of DI water, or replace it.

If the liquid circuit section E, F or G has a fault, remove the Reagent Pack and open it to check whether its interface
is blocked and whether the tube inside the reagent pack is bent and thus prevents the liquid flowing. Also, you
can use a syringe with a tube connected to aspirate the solutions from the A and B ports (separately) of the pack
to attempt to remove blockage and to see if the pack still has any solution in it.

When using the syringe to test the Reagent Pack, make sure not to back flush any
of the solutions. After aspirating any solution, remove the tube from the current
port on the pack and connect to the waste port to dispose.

• Check for Distribution Valve Blockage

If the liquid still cannot be absorbed, the distribution valve may have a fault. It is possibly blocked by flocculent
objects as its holes are rather small and the reagent has been used for a long time (2-3 months). You can use
a needle to poke the stainless steel connectors around the distribution valve and poke a hole in the stainless
steel connectors located to the left of the electrode K in the electrode measuring chamber. If the valve spool
cannot be rotated, the fastening screw is not tightened firmly into the motor's rotation axis. Tightening the
fastening screw should fix it.

• Check for Electrode Blockage

If the electrodes are suspected to be blocked by an accumulation of hemoglobin, remove the electrodes and
check one by one until the blockage is found. Use the cannula (without needle) to absorb Deprotein Solution,
inject the Deprotein solution into the blocked electrode for soaking, and wash the blocked electrode with DI
water for about 3 to 5 minutes afterwards.

• Check for Bubbles in the Liquid

The liquid circuit may have leakage. Check whether both the Calibration A interface and Calibration B interface
of the Distribution Valve are connected firmly.
Whether the unoccupied channel at the zero position of the distribution valve is blocked with glue.
Whether the output tube of the Distribution Valve is firmly connected.
Whether the electrodes are properly installed and that the knob at the right of the measuring chamber is fully
tightened.

with force and observe whether there is any improvement.

Insufficient Calibration Solution A/B Reagent Pack Is Empty

This problem can happen during sample testing and calibration. Typically, it happens when the volume of solution
A or solution B reaches 0, or if the volume of solution A or solution B is less than 10%, and a liquid path error
occurs. Typically is happens due to low solution in the Reagent Pack however, sometime it can be a fault in the
distribution valve or the tubing in the electrolyte analyzer.

This problem happens to the manual analyzer (without sample tray). Use the following suggestions to check the
instrument.

Checking the Software:

Enter “OTHERS” and select “ADVANCED SETUP”, enter “600901” in “FACTORY PASSWORD”, click “OK” when
it says “Settings have taken effect”. Then enter “123456” in “USER PASSWORD”, after that, you will see the
percentage of volume left for both solution A and solution B. If any of these two is less than 10%, it means the
solution has been used up and the reagent pack needs to be replaced. Formatted: Font: Not Bold
Enter the menu “OTHERS” and select “ADVANCED SETUP“. Enter the Factory password (changed monthly) to
enter the “FACTORY MAINTENANCE” menu and select “ADVANCED SETTINGS”. Here you can see the RF
Availables data, which will indicate if the Reagent Pack is low. If the RF Availables is less than 100 the Reagent
Pack is low on solution and needs to be replaced. Conversely, from the “FACTORY MAINTENEANCE” menu you
you can select “VOLUME SETTINGS” to see the available reagent remaining in the pack.

Checking the Distribution Valve

If you get above error, go to the “OTHERS” menu and select “ADVANCED SETUP”. Input User password 123456.
123456. Then press "Pumping A 10 ts". Pay attention to the distribution valve. If this is no liquid coming out,

the tubing from the Reagent Pack to the distribution valve may be blocked or leaking. It could also be that the
Reagent Pack solution(s) are used up and needs replacing or the distribution valve is faulty. Use the same method
method to check "Pumping B 10 ts".

There is a gap on the blank plate which is inside the distribution valve (pictured below). When you use "Pumping
A 10ts" or "Pumping B 10ts", the gap will come to the related marked port. Pay attention to the gap, if it does not
go to the fitted position, the distribution valve is defective.

Liquid Backflow
The liquid should flow in one direction in the liquid circuit. Calibration Solution A and Calibration Solution B start
from the Reagent Pak and flow to the Distribution Valve. Patient samples, QC Solution, standard liquid, calibration
solution and cleaning solution start from the sample probe, and flows to the waste port of the Reagent Pack through
the detector, the electrode measuring chamber and the Peristaltic pump.

If you find the liquid flowing in the reverse direction it is can be because the Solution A and Solution B packs in the
Reagent Pack were crushed and pressed the waste liquid pack in the Reagent Pack. The breathable film of the
waste liquid pack and Solution A and Solution B are stuck to each other. The liquid flows towards the waste liquid
pack temporarily when the vacuum pump works, but the high air pressure inside the waste liquid pack will drive
the liquid to flow back once the vacuum pump stops working. This is because the waste liquid pack is not stretched
and the breathable film does not breathe. Open the reagent pack and stretch the breathable film.

Distribution Valve
Distribution Valve Error
This is typically caused when the distribution valve motor is not secure, use the following steps to correct.
• Distribution valve is not fixed tightly with the distribution motor shaft. It will need to be tightened.
• Distribution valve and motor is fixed too tightly. It will need to be loosened.

If the Distribution Valve motor is properly tightened and you are still getting errors, check the distribution valve
using corresponding problems and the following steps to resolve.

No Aspiration
The optical coupling plate may be loose.
Open the front cover of electrolyte analyzer and then check the Optocoupler plate in Picture VI. If it is loose, it will
affect the distribution valve 0 testing, which leads to no liquid aspiration. Fasten the screw M2.0*4.0 in Picture V.

Four seal rings are placed slanted.

Take them out and put them back again to make sure that all of them are placed correctly.

The connection between the cover of valve and the body are not flush.
Take them out and assemble them again to make sure that it is connected correctly.

Liquid aspiration unsmooth or has air bubbles at times from the B position
If the analyzer aspirates liquid imperfectly or with air bubbles at times, there is a possibility of friction between the
Optocoupler and its plate, causing the shift of the liquid hole for calibration B. Take the distribution valve out of
the analyzer first and then the screw in the Optocoupler. After that, take down the valve spool, motor and check
whether A-A side of the optical coupling plate is causing friction. If so, loosen up the screw B, move the plate
toward the black arrow about 0.5mm and tighten the screw B coated with glue. Finally, put the valve plug and
motor together and assemble the valve into the analyzer.

Liquid Detector
If you get liquid detector error, you should know that the connector with main board may be loose. Therefore, you
should reconnect this cable. Check the glass tube in the middle of the detector to make sure that the connection
is good. If still unsolved, liquid detector may be defective. You may need to replace or turn off the Liquid detection
function.

Sample Tray
Missing or Incorrect Detection of Sample Cup
Enter the menu “OTHERS” select “ADVANCED SETUP” and enter User password 123456. Press “AUTO TRAY
TEST” to test the sample tray. This will help you judge whether the optical coupler for cup position works properly.
The cup position 01, 02… 30 on the screen in the menu respectively corresponds to the cup positions 1, 2… 30
(not emergency cup positions) on the sample tray. Place some T&K cups (with or without liquid) at random prior
to testing and then press “START TEST” to start the detection. Check whether the cup positions displayed on the
LCD screen correspond to the actual cup positions. If they are, we can say the optical coupler for cup position
detection works properly.

If any cup position is undetected or any empty position is detected, lower the sample probe dial speed and test
again. Enter the menu “OTHERS” select “ADVANCED SETUP” enter Factory password (password changes

LCD Screen
Abnormal Time Display
If the LCD screen displays an abnormal time, like year 2096, that means the battery power is used up (that is why
the time displayed and printed is abnormal). Replace the battery with a CR1220 3V battery and then from the
Main Menu enter the menu “SETTINGS” and select “DATE & TIME” to set the current time and date.

Non-Responsive Screen
If the LCD screen is not responding when pressed it may be due to over tightening. You will need to remove the
cover and loosen the screws that secure the screen, in some cases a spacer should be used to keep the screen
from contacting the outer cover.

Printer
If any dark patch or messy code appears in the printing paper, there are two possibilities:
Put your hand on the upper housing of the printer to feel whether the printer is warm. If the printer is not warm,
there are two possibilities:
• The jumper J5 at the edge position of the small plate is not secured or welded firmly;
• The chip on the main board is the wrong type (e.g. in 3 lines with the logo of MAXIM company in line 1) other
than MAX3243C (in two lines) and needs replacing.

If the printer is warm, that means the main board or power supply has a fault. Turn off the electrolyte analyzer
immediately and contact our after-sales service department for service.

Reagent Pack
Reagent Pack Leakage
If any reagent pack leaks liquid:
• Open the reagent pack to check whether the breathable film is stuck and has liquid leakage.

• For any model with Biochemical cups, please set the Biochemical tube pushing step. From the menu
“FACTORY MAINTENANCE” select “ADVANCED SETTINGS” to adjust the steps, which are usually 200-210
steps (the ideal parameter value can drive the sample injection needle right into the center of the zero-position
cup).
• Set the “Sample Tray Speed”. From the menu “FACTORY MAINTENANCE” select “ADVANCED
SETTINGS” and set as “7” or “8”, usually not “9” or “10”.
• The “Sample Tray Precision” in the menu “FACTORY MAINTENANCE” select “ADVANCED SETTINGS”,
does not need adjustment, unless the sample probe cannot be driven into the sample cups center.
• Set “Detector Enabled”. From the Main menu select “OTHERS” and then “ADVANCED SETUP” and select
“Yes” in the case that the Detector is functioning or “No” in the case of a damaged detector.
• Restart the electrolyte analyzer, and you will find the memory error has been corrected.

Now that the electrolyte analyzer has been set correctly, you can proceed with further operations

Full Auto Mode Failure

The electrolyte analyzer supports both the full auto mode and manual mode. If the sample tray cup position
detector has a fault, the sample tray fails to find the zero position or the sample probe has a fault, you can turn the
electrolyte analyzer to manual mode for further use.

Enter the menu “OTHERS” select “ADVACNED SETUP” and enter the Factory password (password changes
monthly). From the “FACTORY MAINTENANCE” menu, select “ADVANCED SETTINGS” to switch the “Machine
Mode” from “Auto” to “Manual”. After switching, restart the electrolyte analyzer. If the “Machine Mode” is
switched to “Manual”, redefine the fluidic line parameters from the following menu: “FACTORY MAINTENANCE”,
“SENSOR ADJUSTMENT”, “FLUIDIC LINES”.
• The parameter “Detector to Electrode” requires no modification.
• The parameter “Valve to Detector” should be auto tested again.
• The parameter “Manual Probe to Detector” should be input as about 1000 steps.
• The parameter “Auto Probe to Detector” is not applicable here.

It is not recommended that you use “Manual Mode” for a long time since the manual sample probe is an easily
damaged part. “Manual Mode” serves as a temporary emergency option.

Lithium Parameter Measurement

The measurement of Li parameter is a little more complicated than that of other parameters. Below are the two
measurement methods available:

Method 1 (the first digit in the bracket following the version number: 0)
From the Main Menu enter the “QC” menu, then select “FACTOR” and input the lithium intercept as -2.2.
Method 2 (the first digit in the bracket following the version number: 1)
From the Main Menu enter the “QC” menu, then select “FACTOR” and input the lithium intercept as 0.5.

After inputting the lithium intercept with method 1 or 2, please input the lithium slope as 1.00. Perform a two-point
calibration, and then begin to test the QC liquid. Observe whether the test result approximates to 0.95. In the
case of a large deviation, continue to modify the intercept value (slope should remain at 1.00), perform two-point
calibration and test the QC liquid until the Li parameter is tested to be 0.95. Then you can start to test samples.

The method 1 is the factory default method. To switch to method 1 or 2, please input the factory password as
600800 or 600801.

Reference Solution
The reference electrode provides the standard potential for all other electrodes in the electrolyte analyzer. If the
reference electrode is unstable, all other electrodes will be unstable. The saturated KCl in the reference electrode
will penetrate outwards gradually over time. Please refill the reference solution when it decreases or replace if
necessary.

• Use a syringe to aspirate reference solution and inject it into the reference electrode (do not fill it 100% full).
To fill remove the cover on the Reference electrode at the upper right corner of the electrode.

If the calibration value of each electrode reaches around 200, the part of the reference electrode which contacts
the test liquid, namely the reference film, may have air bubbles. It could also be due to salt crystallization, may
have expired solution, or the electrode itself may have expired.

• Take out the reference electrode and repeatedly flick the bottom (below the silver probe) with your finger to
remove any air bubbles.
• Regularly check the reference electrode and wipe the salt crystals off the housing if any or it may cause the
measurement to be unstable.
• Replace Reference refill solution
• Check and replace Reference electrode if necessary.

Installation and Repair

This section will discuss repairing and installing all internal components of the electrolyte analyzer. For
installation of most of the components in this section the analyzers case will need to be removed and most of the
internal cables will need to be disconnected from the Main board in order to work at removing and installing parts.
The instructions below will assume that the technician has a working knowledge of the analyzer and that all safety

• Replace all internal cables, and power on the analyzer to test.

Sometimes spacers should be used on the front side of the LCD when
mounting to eliminate the LCD from contacting the outer cover.

Main Board
This section will cover removing and installing the Main Board.

To remove the Main Board screen the analyzer cover will need to be removed. Using a Philips screw driver
remove the 7 screws on the back of the analyzer are gently remove the front cover. Because of how the internal
wiring and liquid circuit are installed, the technician should take care when removing the cover as not do damage
any of the other internal components. The liquid circuit will still be connected to both the front and rear covers so
continue to take cause while working as not to damage.

• Power off the analyzer

• Disconnect all the internal cables connected to the Main Board.
• Remove the 4 screws on the Main Board and remove the board.
• Replace the Main Board with the new one.
• Connect all the internal cables.
• Power on the analyzer to test.

Maintenance
A good maintenance routine is required to keep the electrolyte analyzer in good working condition. Best practices
would be to have the technician maintain the electrolyte analyzer, and they should emphasize the importance of
maintenance to all users.

Daily Maintenance
• Perform Activation for 15-30 minutes daily.
• Check the internal ISE solution in each electrode daily.
• Clean Sample Probe and Injection Port manually daily.
• Before powering off the analyzer, the instrument must aspirate Cleaning Solution to rinse the measuring
system. (You can use Activation (Washing) solution; or the instrument will automatically aspirate Calibration
A solution to clean the liquid path).
• Check the tubing and liquid flow system to keep them unobstructed.
• If you turn off the electrolyte analyzer every day, it is better to remove the pump tube to avoid it being stuck;
unlock the pump clip to remove the tube. If the electrolyte analyzer works 24 hours a day, do not remove the
pump tube.
• Frequently check how many samples the reagent pack will support and replace the reagent pack if necessary.
• Run daily QC testing every day, for the purpose of monthly statistics.
• If any tubing or electrode is blocked, please remove the pump tubing, use a syringe (with tubing connected,
not a needle) to aspirate distilled water for reverse washing, allowing the distilled water to discharge from the
sample probe. Do not use the syringe needle to pierce the electrode film, or the electrode could be damaged.

Weekly Maintenance
• Check the electrode measuring chamber and clean the dry liquid and samples once a week so as to keep the
electrode measuring chamber clean.
• Check the available volume of the solution in the reference electrode to keep the reference electrode in Ag/Ag-
cl immersed in the solution. If the reference solution becomes low, use a syringe to inject reference solution
into the reference electrode.
• Regularly check the ISE solution in the electrodes [K, Na, Cl, Ca, pH, and Li]. If the ISE solution level is below
the silver electrode probe, inject the additional ISE solution or replace the relevant electrode. If the reference
solution in the reference electrode is dirty, replace the solution or replace the reference electrode if necessary.
• Use deproteinization washing solution to perform the Deprotein function every week.
• Wash the electrodes with DI water to remove the residual liquid from the electrode liquid circuit and keep the
electrode sealed if it is about to be unused for some time.

Monthly Maintenance
• Take out all tubes and immerse into DI water for cleaning at least once a month.
• Replace internal ISE solution when it’s turbid, replace electrodes if necessary.
• If electrode is polluted, use protein-removing solution (deproteinizer) to clean pollution adhered on electrode
membrane. If seriously polluted, use a cotton thread to clean the pollution (It is forbidden to poke electrode
with hard things).
• If tubing or electrode clogs, remove the tube or tubing, absorb in distilled water with a syringe (remove the
syringe needle and replace a soft tube) and clean the tube. Allow DI water effuse from sample probe. DO
NOT to punch through the electrode membrane with the syringe needle.
• If analyzer is not used for a long time, clean residue in the electrode membrane tube with distilled water,
airproof it for storage.
• If electrodes have not been used for a long time, please perform Deproteinization and Activation at least for 2
hours.

Half-year Maintenance
• Clean the inner part of the analyzer.
• Change the electrode ISE solution and Reference electrode solution.
• Check the reagent pack expiration and change if necessary.
• Change the maintenance solution including activation solution, deproteinization solution and QC solution.
• It is required to check the liquid path and change the tubing including pump tube.

One-year Maintenance
• It is required to change the ISE electrodes and Reference electrode.
• It is required to change the Liquid Detector.
• It is required to change the Distribution Valve if necessary.
