Key Concepts/ Understanding

FITT PRINCIPLES: OPTIMIZING YOUR BEST
to be Developed

1. OBJECTIVES

Knowledge Remembering:
The fact or condition of knowing 1. Define FITT principles in exercise workout
something with familiarity gained
through experience or association 2. Identify the importance of training heart rate in improving fitness

Skills
The ability and capacity acquired Applying:
through deliberate, systematic, and
sustained effort to smoothly and 1. Apply Karvonen’s formula in determining the fitness level
adaptively carryout complex activities or 2. Solve individual fitness level
the ability, coming from one's knowledge,
practice, aptitude, etc., to do something
VALUING:
1. Value the importance of FITT principles.
Attitude
Growth in feelings or emotional areas.
A settled way of thinking or feeling about INTERNALIZING VALUES:
someone or something, typically one that 2. Display a feeling of appreciation of the importance of training heart
is reflected in a person’s behavior
rate in improving fitness

Values List of Values:

A learner's principles or standards of
behavior; one's judgment of what is
Maka-Diyos (Love of God, Faith, Trusting, Spirituality, Inner Peace, Love of truth, Kindness,
important in life. Go beyond learner’s Humble)
life on earth, include more than wealth 1. Show love and appreciation to God before starting the class by
and fame, and would affect the eternal
destiny of millions
praying.

Maka-tao (Concern for Others, Respect for human rights, Gender equality, Family Solidarity,
Generosity, Helping, Oneness)
2. Show respect to other’s opinion and answer during discussion.

Makakalikasan (Care of the environment, Disaster Risk Management, Protection of the

Environment, Responsible Consumerism, Cleanliness, Orderliness, Saving the ecosystem,
Environmental sustainability)

Self- Learning Materials and Activities pp. 8-16

Powerpoint presentation
3. LEARNING RESOURCES
Visual Aids
Video Clips
4. PROCEDURES
4.1Introductory 1. Opening prayer
2. Checking of attendance and assignment (Answer the pre-assessment of
lesson 2. SLA page8 and checking of PE Uniforms)
3. Review of the Past Lesson: Ask: (FITNESS-within)
Identify the benefits of exercise, differentiate Aerobic and Anaerobic
exercise and give 1 example each.
4. Motivation: Let’s Dance it out! (DANCE-within)
1. Before doing the activity, each student will get there Resting Pulse Rate.
2. After performing the activity, each student will get there exercise Pulse
Rate.

4.2Activity/Strategy 1. Presentation of the lesson (Objectives)

At the end of the lesson, learners are expected to:
a. Define FITT Principles in exercise;
b. Identify the importance of training heart rate in improving fitness
c. Recognize the importance of the principle;
d. Classify the intensity levels of exercise;
e. Apply Karvonen’s formula in determining the fitness level;
f. Solve individual fitness level

2. Activity #: Video Presentation (teacher will ask questions: Analysis)

3. Lesson Proper:
a. Before digging in to the main topic for this session, we are going to
Unlock the terms that we are going to encounter this morning.
(VOCABULARY-across)

Frequency- refers to “how often” you exercise per week

Intensity – refers to “how hard” you exercise from moderate to high
Time – refers to “how long” you exercise for anywhere from 15-40
minutes
Type – refers to the “kind of exercise” you undertake

b. Introduce and classify the intensity levels of exercise.

Low Intensity Level - (60%-70%)
Middle Intensity Level - (70%-80%)
High Intensity Level - (80%-90%)

c. Demonstrate the steps on how to calculate/solve the ideal heart rate

training zone using Karvonen Formula. (MATHEMATICS-across)
Formula: THR= RHR + PTI (%) (220-PA-RHR)
Where:
RHR - Resting Pulse Rate
PTI – Percentage Training Intensity
220 – Maximum Heart Rate (constant
PA - Present Age

4.3 Analysis Activity #1

Teacher will ask the following questions:
1. What does FITT stands for?
2. How can the FITT Principle can be applied?
3. What is the importance of FITT Principle?

Activity #1
BOARD RACE
The mechanics of the game is inspired from Filipino Game show – Game Ka Na
ba? With a twist. The goal of this game is to have four people “race” from one end
of the classroom to the board at the other end of the classroom and write the
answer to a question on the board.
 Each player will need to answer 3 question to reach the board and the first
player who can reach the board will the one first one to solve the equation
given. They will need to supply the missing answer.
 The teacher will ask a question relating to a topic that you have covered in
a recent lesson or something that you had focused on during the day
 The first person to finish solving the correct answer scores a point.
‘4.4 Abstraction The teacher will ask the following questions:
1. What have you learned in today’s discussion?
2. What is the importance of learning the FITT principles?
3. Why is it important to know the importance of training heart rate in
improving fitness?
4. What are the intensity levels of exercise and its percentage?
5. What is the ideal intensity level of exercise for beginners?
6. Why is it important to know your ideal heart rate training zone?
4.5 Application HUMAN WHAT’S MISSING?
Individual Performance. Individual Performance. ¼ sheet of paper. Solve
the ideal training heart rate of an 18-year old individual in a middle
intensity level (70%-80%).

4.6Assessment(_5_minutes)
Assessment Method The teacher will present a 5-item quiz.

4.7 Assignment Create a customized aerobic exercise that is based on your ideal training
(__3__minutes) heart rate (THR) zone. Warm up, stretching, and cool down will be
incorporated in the exercise. Make sure to apply the FITT principle. Present
to the class next meeting.
4.8 Concluding Always remember what John F kennedy said, “Intelligence and skill can
Activity only function at the peak of their capacity when body is healthy and
(__2__minutes) strong”
5. Remarks

6. Reflections
A. No. of learners who
earned 80% in the
evaluation
B. No. of learners who
require additional activities
for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons
work? No. of learners who
have caught up withthe
lesson.
D. No. of learners who
continue to require
remediation.
E. Which of my learning
strategiesworked well? Why
did these work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounterwhich my principal
or supervisor can
help me solve?
G. What innovation or
localizedmaterials did I
use/discoverwhich I wish to
share with other teachers?
