For New Surfaces, Uniform Pressure Method is more

recommended. The equivalent friction radius 𝑟𝑟𝑒𝑒 is given
by:
𝟏𝟏 𝑫𝑫𝟑𝟑 − 𝒅𝒅𝟑𝟑
𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒆 =  𝟐𝟐
𝟑𝟑 𝑫𝑫 − 𝒅𝒅𝟐𝟐

For Old or Worn Surfaces, the Uniform Wear Method

is more applicable. The equivalent friction radius 𝑟𝑟𝑒𝑒 is
given by:

The friction diameter at the collar is then

𝑫𝑫𝒄𝒄 = 𝟐𝟐𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒆
