Task 1:

The two maps show an island before and after the construction of some tourist
facilities.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.

The two maps show an island both before and after it was developed as a tourist
destination.
Overall, most developments took place on the western West and central areas of
the island, where a small number of tourist amenities have been built, while the
eastern East of coast has been left unchanged.
Prior to the developments, this small island was uninhabited. There was a beach
area on the west coast, and some vegetation, which was more dense on the eastern
part of the island. As part of the development programme, this vegetation has
largely been retained, with some buildings stands standing around existing trees.
Following construction, the style of the buildings is generally sympathetic to the
natural environment, with relatively simple, single-storey accommodation and only
two larger, two-storey buildings. The main structures are a central reception
building and a restaurant in the northern. In terms of access, while tracks have been
created for vehicles, these are limited to the main buildings. However, there are
footpaths linking the accommodation to the swimming beach and other facilities.
Reaching the island has been made easier with the addition of a pier on the south
coast, which also allows for sailing.

Task 2:
Some people think students should study the science of food and how to prepare it.
Others think students should spend time on important subjects.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.

People hold different views about what which fields that students should study.
While it is believed that they should focus on key subjects at schools, I would
argued that following culinary courses could benefit students. This essay will offer
several major reasons to justify both views given.
On the one hand, there are some main reasons in support of the view that students
should spend most of their time on learning essential academic subjects at school.
Firstly, subjects such as math and literature can provide them the young with the
foundational knowledge which are is the prequisite requirements for career
prospects. This means that having better learning backgrounds helps students have
more job opportunities and easily catch the eyes of recuiters. Secondly,
concentrating on important subjects also enables students to develop necessary
skills for adult life. For example, logical thinking acquired during math lessons and
critical thinking fostered by literature enhance students’ problem-solving ability.
On the other hand, there are several convincing arguments I would provide in favor
of the view that students should pay more attention to studying about nutrients and
methods of cooking. One important reason is that cooking is a survival skill to live
independently, meaning that students tend to be less dependent on their parents in
their real life as they work or study away from home. Another primary reason is
that practical activities related cooking could help students to enhance important
social skills that make their lives more intersting. For example, by preparing meals
together, students they will develop their interpersonal skills as well as strengthen
their relationship with friends.
In conclusion, a wide range of main grounds for both mentioned views have just
been taken into account. From my point of view, more highlight is placed on the
idea that besides traditional school curriculum students should follow food and
nutrition classes and activities.
