Mr. Ibrahim joins an international automobile company as a Spot Welder. He works in a

ten hour shift standing in a place applying the weld. The job requires wearing certain
clothing that often increases the risk of heat related illness. He is always been drenched in
sweat due to the protective gears and heat of the machines. This monotonous job has
increased his tardiness and absenteeism.

Question:

Which job redesign strategy will enhance Ibrahim's motivation level?  Support your
answer with logical reasoning.

Solution

According to this situation, job rotation is the best way to keep the employee interested in his
work. Starting a new task through this process can increase employee interest. It reduces laziness
and monotony, increases morale; it also helps in evaluating an individual's job fit, and is a great
way to learn new knowledge and skills by performing new tasks. Job rotation creates more scope
for professional growth.

Many employees get tired of doing the same job over and over again. Giving them new tasks
through job rotation with motivation also increases the interest of the workers and their skills.
After doing this process, when the employees get interested in their work, they also return to
their original work. If an employee gets bored with one job, giving him another job increases his
mental clarity and work dedication. Finally, the conclusion is that if Mr. Ibrahim is removed
from his original job and transferred to another job, he will gladly do the job.
