BEDAN SCHOLARS’ GUILD

BRINGING SMILES TO THE DUMAGAT TRIBE:
A Benedictine-inspired Donation Drive for the Dumagat Tribe Children Affected
by the Covid-19 Pandemic and Climate Change
May 10-19, 2023 |San Beda University | Collaborative, Community Engagement

RATIONALE

The Bedan Scholars' Guild recognizes the importance of reaching out to

marginalized communities and providing support in times of need. Through this
donation drive for the Dumagat tribe, we aim to embody the Benedictine core
values of stewardship and community service, as we help provide for the needs
of the children and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and climate
change.

By collecting pre-loved toys for kids, used clothes in the best condition,
slippers, and school supplies, we hope to make a positive impact on the lives of
the Dumagat tribe children and their families. These items may seem small, but
they can go a long way in making a difference, especially during these trying
times.

Furthermore, our donation drive aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1: No Poverty, Goal 2: Zero
Hunger, Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, Goal 4: Quality Education, and
Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities. By supporting the Dumagat tribe in their time of
need, we hope to contribute to the achievement of these SDGs and make a
positive impact on the world.

Overall, the donation drive for the Dumagat tribe is an important initiative
that reflects the values of the Bedan Scholars' Guild and our commitment to
community service and social responsibility. By working together to provide for
those in need, we can make a meaningful difference in the world and help
create a better future for all.
