x I’ve built a small audience writing about the
intersection of culture, politics, technology, pulp
fiction, and weirdness with a newsletter called the
Trenchant Edges. The people who read it tend to say
it’s pretty good.
x In 2015, I helped a friend and employer from my
time at IUP with her business. I’d been building
printers at her factory in Memphis when a slew of
small issues threatened to pile up and push the
builders to leave in masse. I spent a weekend talking
with every stakeholder, collecting their issues, and
working out solutions. I built this into a presentation
and convinced management to adopt 95% of my
suggestions, preventing costly walkouts and
retraining.
x When I was an activist at Occupy Wall Street in
Pittsburgh, I discovered a talent for building
relationships and consensus across personal enmity.
My masterpiece at the time was getting two former
lovers who didn’t want to speak to each other to work
together to iron out some financial issues that let the
encampment exist for an extra few weeks.
x While I enjoy media other than writing, I have
limited skill with anything other than written prose.
I’m an adequate poet with time and effort but where I
shine is synthesis of complex information and
presenting information in a clear and engaging way.
x I’m a self-taught programmer, initially in BASIC and
C when I was in middle and high school and more
recently, I’ve returned to pick up Python and R for
use in Data Analysis. I’ve learned dozens of
marketing technologies from the simple like Buffer to

X My linguistic skills are unfortunately limited, as I
have considerably trouble picking up additional
languages. That said, as long as there’s translation
available, I’m usually pretty good at identifying and
translating cultural issues and working through the
thorny bits when multicultural teams come together.
X I used a combination of history, cybernetics,
psychology, and sociology to explore the political
economy of social media and information
technology.
X My writing about Qanon and its complex historical
roots.
X I run a facebook page that touches on all of these
issues and quite a bit more, it’s got 93k followers. A

x Copywriting is applied persuasion and I set up my
merchant’s shingle in the least-unethical place:
Business 2 Business Email marketing. Rather than
trying to provoke insecurity for consumer
marketing, I was able to address hard problems and
point to real solutions.
x Realizing I had ADHD a few years ago and getting
professional help has been a complicated journey.
There’s not really a cure and none of the
medications I’ve tried have particularly helped me
organize my own goals. This is highly frustrating
because I can do this very easily when working for
other people, but I find that role frustrating and
unsatisfying.
x My biggest skills are synthesizing information and
smashing it together like a child with toy cars until
insight comes out. Sometimes I write with a bit of
style too.
x I’ve gone back to college to get the google
certificate in data analytics, which I’ll be finishing
up in August. Aggressively learning is pretty much
my pitch.
