assignment or activity meets the skill
x In Methods and Technique of Research class, I had to
research a time era and do a power point on that time
main points compared to other time periods. In my
Language and Rhetoric class, I had many papers that
were written and presented to the class. The two
artifacts that I chose as my artifacts for this skill
represent my ability to communicate clearly and in
the proper format.
x In my Human Resources class, I used critical
thinking by analyzing employee issues in the
workplace and finding ways to keep them engaged.
x In my marketing class, we had to do a project called
“New Shoe” where we worked together with
classmates to make decisions weekly that were
calculated to see the effect on our business. I
demonstrated leadership by taking the lead in our
group and helped the team work together.
x In my Clay and Pottery class, I was able to express
my ideas through clay. We presented our pieces to
the class with an explanation of what we are making
and the technique we used to make the piece. When
Covid struck, we were given clay to make pieces at
home and then presented over Zoom. We learned
different techniques to make our art. It was a good
learning experience to express our ideas with clay.
x In Environmental Science Lab, I performed
experiments using virtual programs that required
technological competency. I used my findings to
solve problems and complete tasks. The projects that
I completed showed my ability to complete tasks in a
timely manner with the correct outcomes.

x I have not taken a language class yet in my studies.
Spanish I and II are on my schedule for next
semester. I do feel that I have learned to relate across
cultural settings by the learning that I did in Western
Cultures I and II. I did extensive studying of the
different cultures in history learning how cultures
have changed over time.
x In my Organizational Communication class, I studied
cultural diversity and how it needs to be incorporated
into corporations. I completed an annotated
bibliography on the subject from the point of view of
how cultural diversity has grown from the 90’s to
present day. In my Environmental Science class, we
were asked to research and write an essay on a
development in technology that was being used
in the discovery of new life. These two artifacts
that I have included for this skill highlight my
use of time, place, and social change with my
analysis of the issues.
x In my Food in History class, I did a power point
on the book “97 Orchard” by Jane Ziegelman.
Immigration is one of the issues in this book and
one that is a current issue today. It deals with the
social justice issue of fairness in housing and
food insecurity as well. The paper that I wrote
on Gender Equality in my Race and Gender in
History class showcases my knowledge of
historical events that relate to women.
x I learned about how the history of women;
specifically how black women were treated in the
past. I took an intersectional approach in my work to
look at how race and gender are compounded.

Example of specific assignment or activity
x I had to create a marketing plan and analyze our
results week to week and compare the outcome
of our decision making. This involved an
analysis of the numbers that were produced by
the implementation of our decisions of how to
make the company more profitable. My weather
survey displays the data that I collected from the
participants and the questions that they were
asked. This meets the objective by using the data
to show where most participants fell.
x In my Methods of Research class, we chose a
subject at the beginning of the semester to be our
semester long project. I did both a power point
and wrote a literature review on sexual
harassment. This was an extensive project that
required a lot of research with annotated
bibliographies due each week of our research
pieces and reasons behind our topic choice.
x I had to use quantitative and qualitative
information in a study I conducted of how
people felt about the global warming and present
it in a power point presentation. I also
interpreted data in my New Shoe simulation to
determine next steps in our project.
x In my Theology class, we learned about Jesus
from different points of view and in multiple
ways. We used four different books from
different genres to interpret how they
represented a view of Jesus.

x In my Ethics class, I learned about the different early
philosophers and their differing theories. I had to
apply their theories to everyday situations. I was
presented with different ethical situations and had to
determine whether their actions would be justified
under Betham’s principle of Utility, the Principle of
Double Effect, or Kant’s Categorical Imperative. I
found it confusing at times with the different
principles and laws.
x I applied the Catholic social teaching elements of
solidarity and rights of a person to the social justice
issue of fair housing. This is examined through my
code of ethics for a realtor and the obligation that we
must not discriminate. The Catholic social teaching
element of care for God’s creation is applied in my
essay written about global warming.
x I met this objective in my Theology class when we
had discussion posts from the different books that we
read. I evaluated different characters in books in
relation to Jesus. Another way that I applied diverse
perspectives was in my essay about Anne Dillard’s
book “Teaching a Stone to Talk”. My analysis of the
silent communication with a weasel ties creationism
to evolution.
x I learned a lot about the virtue of justice and how it
related to people in our Western Cultures I and II.
Through the years, much has been taught about how
unjust different cultures were treated. I partially met
this objective in the things that I learned in the class.
x I feel I meet this objective every time I go to vote.
This is a freedom that we were given and one I do
not take lightly. I vote from an informed mind and
consider this my civic duty.

x I feel I have met this objective with my letter to
a person in charge. My call to action by our
community is expressed clearly in my letter to
Senator Ward and my plea to her to help set up
a program to address food insecurity.
x My visual map shows my personal journey and
the steps I took to get where I am today both
professionally and personally. My societal
growth is shown from my journey in my
different areas of life and professions. My
vocational essay demonstrates accountability to
myself and to my profession.
x I created my resume that shows my skills,
strengths, and relevant experiences to my future
career. I also articulated my ideas in my
vocational essay. These two pieces show both
my business side and my commitment to social
justice.
x I met this objective with an essay I wrote on our
changing ecosystems and specifically the snow
leopard. It talks about how any changes to our
environment can affect other things since one
depends on the other. I, also, completed an
essay on what an environmentalist is and used
quotes by Yann Arthus-Bertrand who is a
French environmentalist, activist, journalist,
and photographer. These classes demonstrate
experimental learning.
