Use the At the beginning of my Seton Hill Journey, I took many


expressive arts as music courses. Music has always been my way of
a mode of inquiry ✓ expression. My courses in Rhythmics, Guitar, Piano,
or expression Diction, Harmony, Opera, and Voice Performance have
let me continue to use the expressive arts as a mode of
expression and inquiry. My Opera Workshop course
provided me the opportunity for both expression and
inquiry from asking questions and learning about my
character, to expressing this character by performing
their piece on stage. During my voice performance
course, I had a private lesson where I prepared pieces
to perform in front of the music professors. I was able
to use expression through the pieces I was performing
by telling the story of the song.

Demonstrate Social work relies on leadership, negotiation,


leadership, relational, and consensus skills. To be a good social
negotiation, ✓ worker, you must demonstrate and continue to
relational, and develop these skills. I have been able to demonstrate
consensus skills these skills through my Generalist Practice courses
working with individuals, groups and families, and
communities. I was able to showcase negotiation,
relational, and consensus skills when working with
individuals through my video interviews using solution
focused therapy. In my groups course, I was able to
show leadership by leading a group therapy session, as
well as show relational and consensus skills during the
session. In my communities course, I showed
leadership by taking the lead on parts of our class
project, I also showed negotiation skills with my peers
during the project, as well as before when deciding on
the community and what to help them with. Another
area where I was able to demonstrate these skills, was
during my time as the secretary for Project HOPE and
Phi Alpha Honor Society.

session. During my Field Practicum, I proposed a new
solution for helping residents resolve conflicts on the
program by using restorative mediation. I was also able
to propose new solutions in my policy course by
creating a policy for Westmoreland County Juvenile
Probation on a mailing issue they were having.

values, I was able to transfer this into making a sound
decision for my paper.

Communicate in Before coming to Seton Hill, I had very little experience

would be fully effective in helping youth properly
reintegrate back into communities. I was also able to do
this in my Senior Synthesis course of a powerpoint on
Trauma-Informed Care. I found information on the
Trauma Informed Care approach, evaluated the
information found, then applied it by creating a case
example of what trauma informed care approach would
look like in use.

quantitative and study using both quantitative and qualitative

Demonstrate During my sophomore year, I took an Introduction to


ethical decision- Ethics course. While in this course, I was able to learn
making ✓ about different philosophers and ethics. During this course

freedom and and service learning. These opportunities have helped me
civic achieve the skill set on exercising civic engagement. For my
engagement ✓ connections course, I participated in labor of love where I
based on an went to St. Vincent De Paul and helped the staff move and
informed value organize the items. They explained how much help this
system was considering that most of the workers there are older
and cannot move the heavy boxes up and down the steps.
As a member of Phi Alpha and Project H.O.P.E, I was able
to complete multiple different acts of service. Some of my
favorite service projects were making cards for the Sisters
of Charity, making candy grams for our hard working
maintenance staff during a pandemic to show our
appreciation, as well as making and delivering card to
frontline social workers to show that we see them and
appreciate them.
