Preliminaries:
Motivation: Word game
A. ACTIVITY: Debate
1. Divide the class into Two (2) Groups and Identify current Social Issues that is arguable
and presents both side of an argument.
2. Among the two groups, one group will take the position of Positive and other is
Negative.

B. ANALYSIS:
What made your position in an argument valid and effective?
Where you able to clearly state and identify your position on the argument?

C. ABSTRACTION:
What is Position Paper?
What are the Principles of Position Paper?

D. APPLICATION:
Right your position on the issue of Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA)

IV. EVALUATION:
Paper and pencil test

V. AGREEMENT:
Search for an editorial article from one the country’s broadsheets either printed or online
newspapers. Examine their structure and the writing techniques used by their
respective authors. Do you find these editorials effective? Why or why not? Paste a
copy of the editorial on a short bond paper. Below it, write your view about the
editorial.

How did position Paper help you in presenting one side of the issue?
In what way the position paper helps you maintain the credibility of your arguments on the
given Issue?
C. ABSTRACTION:
What are the principles of a Position paper?
What are the uses of Position Paper?
D. APPLICATION:
In a piece of paper, write your position on the given issue: As a student, Is there a way
to reduce abortions without Legislation?

Where can we find supporting evidence to support your counter claims?

2. With the given issue or scenario that the talk show presented, ask the student what is
his personal stand on an issue.

Is it a real issue, with genuine controversy and uncertainty?
Can you Identify at least two distinctive positions?
C. ABSTRACTION:
Does the topic assert something specific, prove it, and where applicable, propose a plan
of action?
APPLICATION:
In one whole sheet of paper, write your position on the issue of Good Conduct Time
Allowance or GCTA and support your position with facts and evidences.
